Some Questions

Post by Iracus »

So I just bought this game and so far I'm loving it. I've done a bit of mining/trading and combat and I am liking each side. But I have a few questions and instead of making multiple threads I'm just gonna keep them here as they pop up in my head.
  1. So first, what other things are there to do besides mining/trading/fighting for money?
  2. If you build a station, can you make money from it from people using it?
  3. How do you get the military frames?
  4. What sort of ship systems should I always try to have?
  5. What are some good tips for a starting pilot.
  6. Where should I locate my self that will offer good contracts, but not ones that I can't do right away with basic stuff.
  7. What does a station license do?
    [/list=1]
So thats all i can think of for now, i'll more then likley be adding more as I play. And thanks in advance to all who answer =D

Hi Iracus...

1. You can build different stations in MP and they will stay until someone blows them up...use the constructs to make different items then go sell them at a local station for profit.

2. No....but it will belong to you and you will get discount's on items you buy

3. Go to the War Zones and board the carrier that is there...you can get a military ship that matches your rank in the military...the higher the rank the better the ship. Your military Rank will only increase in the War Zones...so do the mission's there if you want a promotion.

4. A ship systems depend on what the individual pilot likes..you can experiment to see what you like...are you a combat pilot or are you a trader or an Explorer? these questions you will have to ask yourself.

5. Tip: stay in the Sapphire system at 1st to get the hang of flying your ship and doing the different contracts there, also don't be afraid to go online in MP and ask questions...there are a lot of good pilots who will help you.

6. Explore Sapphire...that system has a lot to do for a beginner pilot...if you want to try Combat go to the Olympus system.

7. A station license offers you a discount on what you buy and it offers some protection from hostile pilot's.

Hope this helps you...Enjoy and have FUN...I'll see you in MP sometime ;)

Ok heres anohter question (and thanks for the answers to my previous ones :) )

Can someone give me some tips for combat, because I seem to be getting blown up an annoying amount of times. And it seems from the contracts that say there is only a estimated 2 fighters are just lies when there are really like 6 and they all seem to have a unlimited supply of misses. And I also hired a few guys but they seem to be no help at all. So any tips on ship builds, combat techniques, etc would be much appreciated.

 The number of enemy ships you encounter will increase if you take too long to kill the original four or six or whatever. That's because the enemy has friends and family ... all of which love to pick on a lone mercenary once they've been called into battle. So, either do quick kills or resign yourself to taking on the entire enemy clan.

:o Unfortunately, I have no solution to quick kills. I've resigned myself to spending a good long time "jousting" with the enemy ... using Excals every three minutes and charging in, guns ablaze at 1800kps, in between.

;) As long as you don't meet a missile head on, you can usually survive any number of Reds.

For some reason when ever I try to make a trade station, it won't let me put in letters, only numbers. Also when i do put in some numbers and click it to build, nothing happens. I have the system, and the money, is it because I'm in a hostile system?

Make sure there is not another Trade or Constructor Station in the sector. Find an empty sector and be sure your within the boundary of 50,000 coordinates wise from the center of the sector.

 If Building a Trade Station:

1. Alt Key – HOLD
2. HUD “Build Icon – SELECT
3. “Trade Station Item – HIGHLIGHT
4. Alt Key – RELEASE
5. Station Name – ENTER
6. “Trade Station Item – SELECT

;) The trick is to use the Alt key.

Hi Iracus,

I don't use the Alt key to name a station... I just click on the Build icon in the HUD, then if you leave the mouse over "Trade Station" (don't click it yet) a field will appear where you can enter the name. Don't need to press return when you've entered the name, just click on "Trade Station". I think you have to be at least 2 or 3 sectors away from another Trade Station in order to build otherwise nothing happens.
