I was hanging out at a base in the Cerulean war zone, picking off Vonari as they appeared. They started showing up 2 and 3 at a time when I got a audio message stating "now it's your turn". I'm not sure if it was then or another message ( that I didn't hear well enough to relay) when suddenly what looked like a small face on a screen popped up to deliver the message. Only got a quick look. Did I see correctly or should I quit smokin' those cigarettes I bought in Aquila?
Also, when my ship took some damage and then a mess of them showed up, I jumped out of harm's way into a nebula cloud. I deployed a sensor probe and checked the area; all green and yellow dots. I started clowning around with screen shots for a few minutes and when I looked again there must have been a dozen red dots in and around the cloud. I flew out of there until I was clear of the cloud's interference and could jump back to the station which was now Vonari free. Did these guys track me down and follow me or does it just seem that way? Really felt like they were after me!

Could have been an AI ace- there are contracts you can take on that include attacking named ships, and they trash talk when you get close.
Shouldn't have happened in the war zone though, I would think?
And yeah, when I'm in uncharted space poking around they seem to find me as well! I usually set up a shield array while plotting in my map and watch them gather...

That face thing sounds like the feature in "Freelancer" where a small avatar shows up for every message you hear. That would be a cool feature for EM as well!;)

X3 and even the original Wing Commander had it, it's a very cool feature. Wing commander even had trash talk from AI during battle as you damaged them or they started to stomp you.

I have experienced the "Thrash-Talk", but I haven't seen any avatar (face) showing up.Originally posted by EclipseThe feature already exists, take some combat contracts that specify an ace pilot or fire on a friendly ship, but it could be neat to have it expanded.Originally posted by SeeJay

I do not believe that it shows an avatar. It looks more like a waveform.
I have always wondered how the Vonari look. Perhaps I should keep my eyes open... and my finger on the Print Screen button. XP

That's very true Maars! After long hours of traveling through uninhabited space I've sometimes glimpsed strange things which disappeared before I could get a photo. Once I saw what looked like a cold sun but it vanished before I could get closer. Recently I was able to photograph a sort of ghostly ship before it vanished into thin air (er... thin vacuum) http://www.starwraith.com/forum/viewtop ... 81&page=17

Yes, the mind does play tricks. Once I saw a giant hamburger firing french fries at a tuna salad sandwich. Turns out I was just really hungry.
