What if...

Post by alpha45 »

Here's another what if situation. This one's somewhat serious. Let's say, the Evochron universe was real life, with all the stuff the Evochron would have if it were our current lifestyles. Basically, what are you going to do with all that money you've stockpiled (that you can now use :D)?

Conditions:
- You start out at whatever status you are in game. You've managed to get there, but suddenly, the real life rules apply.
- All the things you expect a realistic universe to have (being able to buy/invest in businesses, order custom-made ships or weapons, abuse your riches for hilarious just retire filthy rich).
-If you die, you stay dead.

Me? Well I'm a filthy rich mercenary, with 2+ billion credits in the bank (and counting).

Since building a freaking space station usually only costs between 160K to 2mil, and getting weapons of mass destruction is only a matter of cash, custom ordering your very own battleship/carrier should be pretty simple! Have it built with the same shielding system as all carriers or stations, making me nigh invulnerable. It would also have the same jump drive as battleships, which apparently can make massive charged jumps. The fact that it will have, like all carriers/stations, an endless supply of fuel, will help. :D

Now, for the fun stuff. Since it's the size of a full size carrier, the cargo bay will be the size of an entire cargo ship. The main systems will be modified so that one person can control everything, will maybe a few crew members to help out. Several insanely overpowered weapons will be added all over the hull, as well as several flak cannons and automated turrets, as well as a specialized cluster FT launcher. On command, it launches a swarm of custom-made high speed FTs that simply obliterate the target. All this would be wired to a big red button (conveniently labeled "The Big Red Button") that would override all weapons, target them at my current selected target, and entertain me with a shiny fireworks display. :D

Several decks would be remade for "recreational" purposes, one being a massive bedroom, one being a zero-G rave club, a shooting range (with lasers :D) and many more fun areas.

All this would probably cost me most, if not all, of my hard earmed monies. No problem, I'd use the massive cargo hold and jump drive to do some epic Andromeda-Sol runs! (while hosting a massive party to pass the time)

What would you guys do with all your monies?

No replies yet? Where is the imagination? Hmm let me think, I'm sure I can come up with a couple of things to keep me occupied:

1) See how many fulcrums it takes to completely melt the crust of a planet (I am open to suggestions regarding targets).

2) Find some way of capturing a Vonarii craft and keep the pilot as my pet.

3a) Corner the market in missile supply.
3b) Hire lots of mercenaries to fly into systems that are hostile to them so everyone is busy using missiles as fast as they can.

4) Get access to Earth, land on Earth, take over Earth.

5) Overthrow all the existing goverments and install myself as supreme galactic ruler.

6) Send everyone I don't like some place nice, a planetary surface in another galaxy sounds good.

7) Take over a planet with snow and create my own personal ski resort world.

Obviously it has been too long since I have been snowboarding and I have been playing too much in the 4x genre of late.

I'd invest in a holodeck. Much more fun than real life. I'd retire gracefully and kill everything in sight in absolute safety.

Yeah might be better suited to the roleplay forum but not sure it deserves a warning for being off topic or whatever.

Oh, I thought of some more things to do:

Build a Scrooge McDuck type silo and go swimming in my money;

Invent a gun that fires money and kill ships by firing my profits at them;

Buy thousands of ships and make a gigantic sculpture out of them;

Turn off the limits on a ships vectoring thrusters and see how fast it will spin before flying apart.

I didn't mean that.

If "Basically, what are you going to do with all that money you've stockpiled?" is the question, answers might be dangerous :P

Ah ok, now I see. My bad.

I did omit many answers that sprung to mind that had a shall we say more "adult" flavor.

I always find it perplexing when I am in a situation where suggestions of ultra-violence don't raise an eyebrow while mention of things that are far nicer and don't hurt anyone would get you in trouble.

So let me add another suggestion:
