Multi-device controlling

Post by absolutedisgrace »

I'm still amazing that this new version of evochron does not support using multiple devices for axis control. If you set up your axis on 1 device, any other devices lose their axis config.

The game currently supports buttons spread across multiple devices.

Why is this important? I have G940 in which windows sets the pedals, throttle and joystick as if they are 3 separate things. In order to use them in windows 7 and this game i have to reboot into test mode and use a joystick simulator that makes a virtual joystick combining these.

Why not just use test mode all the time? Mainly because not every programs works properly while in test mode. I've had numerous issues.

All the game needs to do is allow me to select certain axis on each device for certain action, similar to how buttons work, and this would be perfect. This would also mean that people that own simple joysticks could make use of steering wheels with pedals (the pedals as rudders for example).

The game support multiple device already.
There are around 10 or 12 axis available Oo

I use Hotas + Pedals too, without any problem.
Have you noticed the devices switch up the ingame control setup ?

You are absolutley wrong, absolutedisgrace. The game supports more multiple devices than you have.

Thanks Eclipse, thats exactly my point. I don't see a reason this game should clear 1 device's axis set up when you put in axis for another device. Especially when it works perfectly for buttons.

I am not sure exactly what it is that you are not able to do?

I do sometimes like to use my logitech steering wheel pedals as rudder
in combination with my saitek joystick for pitch and yaw.
But I can Not use my stick for roll at the same time as using the peddles for roll.

I can use more than one device just not for the same axis , but I don't see the problem with that.

As with any other game you can only bind one control to one axis. I know of no game that allows you to bind the same control to multiple axes across multiple controllers.
I too don't remember of any game with that particularity.

Yup, if you had multiple devices controlling the same axis input, they would conflict with each other and override each other. At that point, which axis input is the game supposed to listen to and which one should it ignore?

Exactly.

Arma2:OA has this problem, with chopper control.
You can use 2 axis to manage throttle, by binding an axis (like rotatory) on the keys, and they tend to overwrite each other.

I'm using a G940 setup with no problem. Took awhile to figure out that I had to use the arrows at the top of the screen to get between devices 1-3, but it works just fine.
