Having problems with I.M.G. guest reward

Hi,

WARNING: Vague plot information ahead, if you wan't to remain in the dark, read no more.

So I've been working my way through I.M.G. and I have got to a point where I am given the second reward and advised to upgrade my ship before proceeding.
I went to check out this shipwreck on the planet surface (don't want to give position away so won't say which planet), since the first reward proved so profitable.
Now here's the thing, I can find the shipwreck I was told about, but I can't get my reward from it, I try the tractor beam like I did with the crates previously, but all I pick up is oxygen, it's not a problem of just not being close enough, I can bump right into the wreck and it still won't get me my reward.

Anybody got a hint for me?

Enter inside of her or get closer to her.

Target your tractor beam on the right spot...

Yea it took me a little while to find it too, but just toggle your tractor beam on and search very thoroughly.

Sorry to necro an old thread, but this kind of pertained to what I came here looking for.

I also completed this part of the quest. I flew down to the planet surface and found the wreck. Is there a way to hover my ship when on a planet surface? I had my tractor beam on and was just getting oxygen, so I was flying around the wreck and ended up crashing into the surface!

Ooops!

Any advice?

Get as close to the container as possible, engage inertial and cut your engines. Open up your cargo window (F3) and activate the tractor beam. Keep it operating, dumping oxygen from your cargo hold until the tractor beam locks on to the container and grabs what's inside.

Thanks for the tip! When I engage the inertial, so I need to have some speed, or do I want to be at zero?

I always ease down ... putting my nose on the horizon as I throttle back to zero ... engaging inertial as I cut the engines. Btw, if you have problems finding the container among the wreckage, point your ship at the purple blip on your radar screen. The container will be right in front of you.

Basically this. I didn't even notice the blip on the radar at first because I was too focused on the wreck itself.

I managed to get the goodies with my "belly" on the ground, moving the nose back and forth until I locked on it.
