Hello everybody from the deepest space
I've just buyed a super game named "Lost in Space" (or Evochron: Mercenary for initiates)...
Like you can imagine, I'm a complete newbie. Just the time for me to jump into the cockpit and.... and... hummm... try to understand where I am.
I play on Windows 7 Pro 64 bits and the game run perfectly (only the yoke turn mad sometimes). Explore Sapphire area around the Evochron station is a good way to learn basic commands and tricks but I don't understand the message at the beginning of the game about a "New Hope city", I don't find it and when I type the coordonates "SX-3 / SY0 / SZ 2", flight computer tell me that the destination is too far for a jump and I'm affraid to not have enought fuel for a "conventionnal" travel. Does somebody can tell how to go at New Hope ? I've seen too some jump gates, but the problem is that if I use them, I 'don't where I go, does exists a possibilitty to know the destination for each of them ? For example, I've used one and I've found oneself near a station in the middle of an asteroids field... no information about this system. When I docked, I've could exchange minerals with some "things" like Probe (?) and an other (I don't remember what)... what is the fonction of a Probe ? English is not my mother language and I have some difficulties to understand explanations sometimes :s .
Well, I'm sure I must to read everything on this forum about equipment, spaceship upgrades, etc... This game is really complex and rich and I prepare a very long list of questions

I believe that New Hope is a station on the planet, you don't want to jump there or you'll blow up in the planet atmosphere - there's a limit, about 1400 on your speed in planet atmosphere, and faster and your shields burn up. You'll have plenty of fuel to get there. Hunt out the planet, you'll see a green cross to indicate where the city is, and navigate to the planet, or jump into space, just above the cross, but outside of the planet. You'll see a set of red indicators flash as you steer into the planet. Follow the red indicators until they turn green. When they turn green you'll see a little white flashing light - that is your landing platform on the city. Remember not to jump from the planet, or use your afterburners, otherwise you'll burn up.

If you put your cursor on to a gate it will tell you where it goes, same with names for stations, planets etc. You can also see the links in your Nav Map, just hit "quadrants". I wouldn't bother with probes at the moment, wait until you are well into the game. You also have the option, in your Nav Map to switch text on, and to switch it on for various items such as; stations, gates, planets etc...

Hello and welcome. To reach new hope, which is several sectors away, plot the sector coordinates as needed, then press the Alt-F key combination. This will engage your autopilot, which will take you to the destination one sector at a time (or however many your jump drive can handle at a time). Just make sure to not plot the final jump point inside the planet or to close to it.

I came across New Hope by chance and exploration, if you take a line from your starter planet Evochrome in sapphire system, and follow a path diaganally to the top left cornner of the map, it will be the 3rd or fourth planet along that line, in the Erata or erota system ( sry if the names are slightly dif , im a noob to) youll have to plot a couple of 10k jumps to shorten flight time , but zoom out on your map as you go and youll see it as you get closser , then zoom in a little bit , scroll over the planets to check names and bingo.... no you havent run out of fuel.... it the planet lol , good luck.

Hi Yorisan, welcome to Evochron!

As Grineder says it's not too far to New Hope. Zoom out on your Nav Map and move the mouse cursor over the various planets until it highlights "New Hope". The starting message refers to a "main city". Planetary cities are indicated by green crosses on the Nav Map and the main city will have square brackets around it like this: [+] Plot your jump point close to the planet on the side of the main city (but not too close or else you'll burn up in the atmosphere when you come out of jump), then activate the autopilot and sit back until you arrive.

All these advices are very precious for me and it's very kind of you.
As I said, Evochron seems to be very complex with a real profusion of possibilities and need hours and hours in games to take full advantage of this game.
About this highlight [+] , I've seen one on Sapphire planet, but I don't know what it is, at this time, impossible for me to reach this point, so I'll tried with autopilot command like you suggest and see if I become a flying-barbecue effectively, it's appear two (landing) points on Sapphire and only one is reachable... for me
I must integrate too the "Alt" option for commands, it's not a reflexe for me... I must learn this too. I'm impatient to meet you in MP (I think SP mean "Solo playing" and MP >> "multi-playing" or something like that :p ) I'm really exited by this universe, exploring, builging, mining, trading, etc... (I'm pacific).
Oh! I've forgot to specify -but it's not very important- I'm french (an european rebel if you want... ok... I get out >>> ) That's explain perhaps my poor english, so be indulgent
... Oh! and i'm 49 old years, it's never too late to go in space !

Auto pilot isn't too bright and tries to take you straight to your destination - through the planet in your case!. Do a series of jumps around the planet, with each jump far enough away so that you don't get too close flying in a straight line!

Your English is better then my French so don'r apologise!

Hi everybody.... you know what ? I've reached New Hope and completed all tests I.M.G. gave me. I've upgraded my "space-pedalo" to a Saber frame with some improvements (like Richton engine, lvl3 shield, big fuel tank, conditionned air and a luggage rack... yes I know, it's too cool ) and I've found some containers near Glacia (a real Santa Claus bag) with the coordinates I've got.
The next step was to go to "Harris Minig station" in Olympus system but I've encountered a little problem........ it"s appear that some guys don't like me, but... don't like me at all and explain to me this fact with some missiles as gift (in my face of course) and I'm slightly dead.
A lot of mission consists to hunt some "vilains" 4 by 4 but it's rather hard for me to kill only one, imagine 4 of them. Impossible ! I've upgraded a lot of accessories and weapons (canon relay, shield booster x3, repair device class 3, Viper missiles, a Starguard and Metal Vapor laser, etc...). So I tell to myself that I can upgrade more my "super-space pedalo" to a Strike frame but this option seems to be inactive, can you know why ? "Frame not available" or someyhing like that appear on a window and these frame aren't in highlight. Does a weapons specialist as companion can improve my attack/defense ?

Not all frames are available at all Stations you have to find a Station that carriers higher class frames.
Those stations ussually are in hidden locations in hightech areas and also carry more advanced equipment then you have....You could do some more trading till you have enough credits to get a Centurion or Levethian and upgrade those to the highest available and then do some combat practice in Olympus till you get the hang of it......LOL....I think in Multiplay Olympus has become very hostile because all newbies are sent there on the IMG quest to do combat for the IMG Guild which makes the Navy, Energy and Miners, which are the governing body of Olympus not very happy. So the next IMG quest person will get hit harder because they hate the I.M.G. Guild........:P:P:P:P

Ok... if I well understand, I.M.G is an idiot-trap, the best way to have a maximum of ennemies. It's a dileme because they must have a lot of hidden place with some "special items".
I think to get a maximum of Navy's, Energy's or Miner's missions to improve my reputation with them (and get credit ) and after that, I'll seen.
