Evochron Merc from Impulse gets deleted by Norton 360 . . .

Post by slouching »

ok, so I bought Evochron Merc from impulse, but had the demo installed from starwraith. The demo works fine (in the default starwrath install dir) but when i fire up the installed one from impulse (it's installed in c:\\program files\\indie games\\evochron mercenary) Norton freaks out and deletes the executable. Why would Norton allow the exe from S.W. to run, but not the one from Impulse? Below details:

Norton is known to throw up false positives and delete files you may need and want (especially with 'new' programs it isn't familiar with and EM is certainly new). Could be where Impulse puts the file, could be something else Impulse does... it's difficult to say and hard to predict the behavior of Norton. You either have to manually add what you want to keep to its exception list or contact Norton and report the false positive (and wait and wait...). You can do that here:

https://submit.symantec.com/false_positive/

If you don't have to use it, you may want to switch to something less intrusive and more system resource/gaming friendly.

Ok, thanks for the follow up. I figured it was a false positive, but it was just odd that Impulse's got flagged and the one from this site did not. Thanks again, and really look forward to exploring this awesome new game!
