Hello all. I have a question about crew members. I want to hire an Engineer, however, I already have a Weapons OP, Science OP, and Navigator on board. I am willing to dismiss one of them to hire an Engineer. Which one should I fire?

Well there is also another question, how effective is the engineer at repairing subsystems and the hull?

No, you can hire all 4 crewmen at one time. No need to fire anyone.
You just need a ship big enough and configured for four crew.
You can do that by going into the shipyard.

Yep, when starting out in the beginning it is good to hire all four crew members cause your going to need them all. But once you get good at Navigation and jumping directly on to City Docks and avoiding crashes in to objects your Navigator becomes pretty much useless and a pain for some jumping techniques...
