Clans - how to make them?

Post by gamerdude873 »

Since online play is basically out of the question for my brothers and I, how would I make a clan/fleet so that we can play together as a team and finish contracts together? I can't seem to find any resources on this.

Well, if your brothers are each playing on different computers, you could set-up a LAN connection and play, otherwise I don't see how it would be possible.
To create a clan, just think up a name, like, "Star Killers" for example, reduce that to initials, "SK" and then when you start the game, just rename your callsign like this, "[SK] Joker".
Now everyone whose callsign starts with [SK] will be in the same clan and will appear green to each other.
Best of luck! :)

Like MMagio says. You have to use one of the computers on the LAN as Host/Server and I think you can not use the Host/Server computer to play. All players have to connect to the Host as clients. You can not use the Host as client at the same time...;)

Yes, you can. If you want to play in a LAN game while also hosting it, just host with the game directly rather than using the server program.

Use clan tags if you want to be linked with another player as a friendly contact, you'll be automatically linked with them when you accept a contract in the same sector.

Yup, no need to put clan tags if you just want to do contracts together, you'll be linked regardless of clan if you're in the same sector when contract start.

When you're clanned you'll see any other player with a different tag as red. You can change this if they're not hostiles by pressing the minus key on the right number pad so that it is linked to you and turn green.

Linking players with the minus key works for non clanned players too, but they'll still be yellow and won't get green.
Best regards

Just wondering; You obviously have some internet connection, or, you wouldn't be posting on here. So, why can't you connect to the server for MP?

 To add ... clan members, if in the same sector, also show up on each other's Navigation map as little dots. You use the "Ping" option to update the dots. You can then jump to your buddy's current position without manually entering coordinates.

Anyone who shows as green also shows up as a green dot, if they are in the same sector.

Just wondering: Why is it that you can change a red designation, in MP, to a green, with the minus key, but not change a yellow to a green?

Because when you have a clan tag you'r either friendly or enemy. By default your own clan members are green and by default all other clans are red and there is only yellow left for players with no clan tag. So if you do not have a clan tag the - Key does not work.......;)
