Easiest Way to Travel?

I've done some mining in system. I've upgraded to the third boat.

I'd like to try some combat missions, but I can't seem to sort out the easy way to get from one area to another.

According to the guide I was reading, Olympus would be a good starter spot, but I don't seem to see that travel option in the list of spots that I can pay to get to.

I've read the original manual, and the strategy guide, but apparently I can't seem to wrap my head around how to travel from system to system. I must have missed something in all the reading, but I can't place where that page is.

It also depends on the fulcrum jump drive you have. Class 1 Jumpdrive only jumps you 1 sector at a time, so to get to a gate you have to jump 1 sector at a time to get to a gate. The best thing is to upgrade as soon as possible to a Class 5 jump drive, which lets you jump 5 sectors at a time and on auto pilot it will keep jumping 5 sectors at a time till you reach your set destination. After you have upgraded to class 5, search for an experimental jumpdrive that lets you jump 9 to 10 sectors per jump...look for it in hidden systems.....
