Where am i?

Hi all, Just a quick question about the navigation map.
I have not played this game much, but i do like what i've seen. I'm trying to get to grips with the nav map. I started off in the Sapphire system, but i went through a gateway that took me to EratoII. But when i look at the quadrant map, i don't see the Erato system there. Is there an easy answer to this? As i'm not sure where exactly i am. Thankyou.

Compare your 'Current Location' sector coordinates with the map, you'll see you're still close to Sapphire , just 'up' and 'left' of it in a twin solar system.

Also check your y sector coordinate make sure it is 0, other wise you might have jumped up or down from the galactic plane......change your view plane to check also....

Thanx for your replies, i think its the terminology that i need to familiarize myself with. I don't know what a galactic plane is to be honest. And, now i'm in EratoII, i can't seem to find anything to do (different to sapphire). And where can i go from here? I don't see any gateways to anywhere else. These may seem like stupid questions, but i'm new to deep space games. Really all i want to do to start with is some exploring and mining and stuff. Not too worried about the combat. The only gateway i can see is the one back into sapphire, and i've spent enough time in that system already. lol.

There's a return gate near you (the one you came out of to get there). Look for a purple X looking icon. Zoom out on the map a bit if you need to. Keep right clicking on it until the 'Destination Location' locks in on the gate. Once you've done that, hit F2 to jump right to it.

Oh, duh! i've just sussed it. I wasn't zooming out enough.
I see some more gateways now. Thanx for all your help.
