Pacifying a System

Post by Scabbo »

Hi folks. I did a search on the term "Reputation" before posting this and found a lot of answers, but didn't see anything that *quite* got to what I want to ask here.

At some point when pacifying a hostile system, do you HAVE to work for the "bad" guys?

Thuben has been my first pacification project. I got from Hostile to Moderate fairly quickly. Tonight, working towards Fair level, I got Navy, Energy, and Miners all to 100%. Since then, I've done a few more missions for the Miners and Navy, hoping to nudge me over the edge. No go.

Do I need to just do more contracts for my preferred clients, or do I *have* to work for the Guild or the Rebels (who are at 3% and 30%, respectively)?

Thanks.

You do not need to work for the bad guys. Not ever. If your overall reputation doesn't improve after doing a few extra contracts, you can try exiting the system for awhile. Usually, that drops your local reputation with the good guys down a bit ... giving you the opportunity to re-enter the system and take on a few more contracts.

;) The best contracts, for me, are those where at least a handfull of bad guys bite the (space) dust.

Just a thought on pacifing systems. Once you reach the top ranks the need for missions is reduced. However, if you have a few hostile systems, great fun, herds and herds of reds coming at you non-stop - a kill fest.

3, or 4, of you, in MP, going against a hostile system is about, imho, the best experience in EL.

Anyway, once you've killed a few hundred of them, in a system, they tend to stay well away.

"I remember changing all my systems to Good in Evochron Renegades....Loads of fun" I now just keep the systems as is just for the thrill of it. Once you get your systems to Good Scabbo you can do a lot of Rebel and Guild contracts to changed them back or start shooting up up all the good guys :)

I think a career pirate would be an interesting choice (being a kind of loner).

Get a cargo scanner and just cruise along, looking for ships with good cargo, then blow them up. I would rather be able to trade with them (aggressive negotiations) so they can offer a bribe or something.

Then, dock at a station and sell. If it gets too hostile, then move on, like a plague, to the next system.

Once you get everyone to hate you, you can live out the remainder of your life hiding in a nebula. Better have a fuel converter by that time.
