What\'s your combat style?

Post by alpha45 »

While recovering from my mental scars after playing Saya no Uta (if a japanese game ever has a content warning, then don't even think of playing it, no matter how old you are. I still have nightmares). I decided to get my mind off that stuff and get back to Evochron (I missed you guys!). So, I'm starting this poll to see what the most popular combat tactics pilots use, so all these new pilots can learn more about their fellow players.

 None of the above. I prefer to spit out a lot of flares at the very first sign of danger. I found you can actually get a whole pack of 99 for the price of a single gallon of gas.

I run in close and launch missiles first in batches of two.. People seem to react quick enough to get the third one even if they aren't expecting it, but the first work out well....
I run in at high speeds, and don't alter course until I get close and usually alter at about a 45 degree angle or more on the vertical and the horizontal, that confuses the targetting computer of the enemy's guns quite a bit. I keep my guns off the MDTS, because I like to shoot down missiles especially if it looks like a prolonged fight (like against excals). If I see them using MDTS, I'll usually be more aggressive with missiles as they can't shoot them down easily without heading straight at me.
If shields start to drop, I like to start jumping around- if your enemy doesn't know you're going to do it, you can probably jump and re-aquire target long before he does, and fire some missiles from a blind side.
If they're jumping around, I use a stealth generator to look like I'm jumping around too, and sneak up on him....

Also, target engines for max effect! If they can't move, they can't do jack to stop you.

Yes, non of the above, and yes, like Eclipse get Counter measures free, even fuel you can get free(but I don't), take on 7 waypoint mission with 70 enemy fighters, fly backwards keeping distance using only cannons as targets come in range and shoot down all their missiles and finish them of one by one till there are 4 or 5 enemy fighters per waypoint left go in with side ways straff and using only cannons finish the 4 or 5 left enemy fighters to get some close combat and manouvering practice and repeat this for each of the six remaining waypoints......LOL......:P:P:P:P:P

Call me Scrooge, but I'm not going to tell you my exact tactics. I will however say this:

Get your enemy to fight on your own terms. Maneuver in such a way that forces him to attack you from the angle you pick--I call it showing my enemy my 'good' side. This will give you the upper hand, and also allows you to adjust your shields accordingly.

You can get 99 for the price of 0 fuel.....
 I suppose you could ... but it takes a gallon just to get out of the docking bay.

For me, I try to fight "inconstant". A few pilot out there is fighting like this. If you want to learn something different and fight like this, you have to scratch two pilots. One is Eclipse from "Starwolf Clan", he is a flying freak!I learned alot of things from him. Another stylish man is Jongte from "Terasin Clan". You never know what he is going to do and suddenly find yourself destroyed. I tested it couple of times :)

I noticed one thing from both, they are using guns and lasers very effectively as well as missiles. And they have a similar movement that I call it "trapped under ice". You really feel bad and never escape! At least I couldn't :) You have to see that move!

I love their style and try to fight like this!

All of the above.... as it is different for each enemy you may face.

A tactic with Vonari, one with cap ships, one with players.....and so on.
Best regards

Tried to train other Terasin members like this warsign. And I saw and you all saw they substantially succeeded. They all won even 3-1 or 4-1 against human pilots. Why, did you wonder?

***
Because, human pilots are flying almost the same! They learn tactics to eachother and fly straight. Never develope their own tactics and their movements are predictable!

***

Lately I fought 5 to 1 and destroyed them all. Very known and successful (!!!!) pilots but they all failed my test! And I wait that they post something here but seems they don't.

Same story again!

Nah - Brave is a blunderer.

Blunders in, tries to ram you head on and calls on his OLD buddy Hair Clips to help him out.

Mind you he is out of practice so he needs all the support he can get!!!!!

Usually, I just bore my opponents brains out by doing really safe fly-by's, then, as they leave for something else, I do too. I hate violence. Let me mine.

Of course, you left the best combat option out of your poll.

"Don't die."

@ Rami:

I definitely read that "bore" as "to bore [a hole into your] opponents brains."
