A couple of in-game questions

Post by Trip »

I have been playing almost exclusively online now for about a week and I have a couple of questions:

1. Where do you mine to collect antimatter to turn into fuel converters? I thought that I had seen an answer to this somewhere in the forums but I can't find it now.

2. Is the beacon quest from the SP game also available in the MP game?

3. The crew management screen says that the crew members are paid a certain amount per c Ex. $1240/c
I am assuming that means per cycle. I also see some sort of countdown on the same screen. How does the whole pay system work?

I will probably have more questions as I explore.
Thanks for the help and thank you devs for one kick-ass game that I have been looking for a long time now!

:cool: To expand on Eclipse's answer ... not only can you do the quest in MP, you can do it with other players. It makes solving puzzles easier and it's usually quicker for finding beacons if you split up and seach in different directions. Just remember to have all members of the quest eventually approach each beacon and read its message.

Don't be afraid to ask for someone to fly cover for you either: there are a few beacons in the legends quest that require you to dump your more armored craft for a less armored frame, making you more vulnerable to enemy fighters. If you aren't experienced at dogfighting, ask someone to fly escort for you in MP while you search for the beacons. Most folks would be happy to assist.

If you decide to conduct your lonely search in SP, you could alternatively hire some craft to form a small fleet... just don't forget to order them to attack enemy craft, or they won't do anything.
-The race is not to the swift,
or the battle to the strong,
nor does food come to the wise,
or wealth to the brilliant
or favor to the learned;
but time and chance happen to them all...

...For death is the destiny of every man;
the living should take this to heart...

Thanks for the great tips. The tips from Wasp89 are very helpful. I don't know how dedicated I am to doing the beacon quests. I am having so much fun exploring, trading, and chatting while doing missions that the beacon quests are just in the back of my mind right now.

Yesterday, while flying, I had my first experience with "The Romulan". Not an experience really. I was in a nebula so he left me alone in search of easier prey I guess. Thank you to Martin for warning me to stay put since cloaking doesn't work in nebulae.

I also found out how to mine anti-matter. Good thing to know. "Rommie" actually helped me by sticking around so I would stay "hidden". That is how I found out how to mine anti-matter.

One the subject of "The Romulan"... being a newbie I don't know the whole story. From what I have read on here he likes to fly around and take out newbies. Is this accurate? And why? Is there some agenda or is he just a mal-content who can't really fight so he picks on the lower ranks? Personally, if he wants to come around and blow me up then I will just respawn and continue. What's the point? I get some experience in combat unless he uncloaks right behind me while I am mining and cowardly shoves some missiles up my exhaust vent. It's a game. Eh.

OK, my $.02 are out there. Loving the sim so far and enjoying everyone I have interacted with so far. Kudos to the devs (can't give them enough kudos).

:cool: Keep in mind that not all nebulae inhibit cloaking ... you can determine if you're in one by trying to lock a target: if you can't lock, he can't cloak. Otherwise, expect him to attack when you're most vulnerable ... like when you're docked at a station.

Yes the Romulan loves to go after the new pilots....as to why? Only the Romulan knows for sure. A lot of pilots believe it is because he likes easy targets...but I have the feeling he/she is doing this to spice up the Game play and trying to add to the realism of being a Mercenary in Space....Instead of having to just contend with AI hostiles you get the opportunity to fight off some Villainous Alien (Human.) Pilot :D....There are a lot of Pilots online that love to track down the Romulan just to make space dust out of him/her...hehe, and it does happen from time to time....I usually ignore him/her if I am busy but, I do help the new pilots avoid him if I am near them....and sometimes it is a Hoot just to chase the Romulan for some Fun.

OK, I think that I can understand (most of) the whole Romulan story now.
For what it's worth, spice is good and so is a little realism. ;)

Yes, although Romulans are not suppose to have a sense of humor but this one can sometimes be quite funny in his behaviour and actions. LOL :P:P:P:P:P
