Just gone through the tutorial which was relatively straight forward. Now into the big bad world.
Is there any way of recording logs in the system to recall later - you have the large message at the beginning about tracking someone down but I can't see a way of recording that. Likewise is there a place to hold notes.
I also seem to get very easily lost in the systems, on the nav map anyone have any tips for using it to navigate around a system with out exploding Maybe i'm a little too free with the F2 - warp key. Also I am using the afterburners to move a little quicker but that can still take a while to get closer to an object - any tips on this one or is it just part of the realism aspect?
Basically any tips people have - remembering what it was like to start what is looking like a great game.
You could try hitting the print screen button snd then pasting into wordpad/paint to read messages at your pace. Also in reference to the nav system you could either manually enter coords or right click on the object you want to go to except for planets . Left clicking close to objects also keeps you from exploding.

Couple of options. First, the map log. This is like a virtual notepad built into the navigation console that will let you save brief notes and will even mark a waypoint on your nav map for each note to help you remember locations. Second, you can capture the screen to memory with the Print Screen key, then paste it in your favorite image editor for reference later.

The instructions included with the game are a good reference for beginning information. The section on the navigation console offers details on how to interpret the nav map and plot jump points. If you right click on an object's icon while zoomed in, it will plot a waypoint directly to that object. Left clicking will set the X and Z coordinates in the overhead view or the X and Y coordinates in the 'rear view' mode. You may want to hire a navigator to help keep your jump points safer until you improve your skill in manually plotting jump points.
OK that makes a lot of sense, re ran through the Navigation tutorial and it's now clear. Also tested the map log and again that is exactly what is required.
I don't think the print screen is a realistic option but it is in the eguide and I guess the one listed is the only story aspect of the game?
