Is there a way to move the third person camera around your ship with mouse without affecting the ship trajectory ?

Then you'll need to use a gaming mouse with the ability to map those key functions to primary or secondary functions. The mouse is used as a dedicated flight control device and for menu selection (when the alt key is pressed if using the 'mouse direction' flight control mode).

Mouse camera control ?

This would be a feature that I would love to see get added. The "Mouse Look" feature in flight sims like X-Plane and Falcon is fantastic and though I enjoy using TrackIR most of the time to control camera movement, there are times when an alternative is nice to have.

Mouse Look works by being enabled via a hotkey and then mouse movement controls four degree of motion camera movement so you can look around the cockpit, and then by hitting the hotkey again mouse control is kicked back to flight (without re-centering the camera, ideally).

If it wouldn't be too much of a hassle to implement, it would be really cool to see it included at some point. :)

If it were added, what key would you want it to use by default? At this point, it's somewhat impractical to re-do the keyboard mapping template to support such a function for this game, plus I'm running out of available keys and the last few remaining are for moving existing keys around (and possibly a few more potential critical functions). Plus, when enabled, you'd not only be giving up flight control if you're using the mouse, but also target and menu/HUD selection.

I will set aside a day or so to work on implementing such a feature for the next update, since more than a few players have brought it up. But it will need to be a practical addition functionally using the current keyboard template, if possible (such as sharing a function with an existing key option). Ideas and requests are welcome.

I personally wouldn't use the mouse-as-joystick function but, if you really wanted to take the time to enable it, could it be done using the right-click (and hold) mouse button?

That's currently used for alternate functions and the wait might be too much of delay for some to access the viewing mode. It's a functional solution though. I'm wondering if something like holding Alt and pressing mouse button 2 might be a way to go. Such an option shouldn't interfere with other bound functions, but could intefere if the player is trying to shoot missiles at the same time they are trying to use an alternate keyboard function.

Pardon my brain fart. The mouse can already be used in place of the joystick.

Ok, it's 'official', the next update will include a mouse view control option for the cockpit view mode. I want to give an advanced notice on how this addition will effect the keyboard configuration file (which needs to be updated to include support for this option). If you update to the new build from version 1.058 or newer, the game will take care of the updating process for you automatically. If you update to the new build from version 1.048 or older, you will need to delete the keymap8.sw file from the game's save data folder (default \\sw3dg\\EvochronLegends) before launching the game. The game will then rebuild the file and you'll need to remap any custom keyboard and/or button controls in the 'Configure Controls' menu.

I'm hoping to have a test build ready within the next week or two.

That's great, thanks for the work on this function, I'm sure it will come in handy for more than a few of us and increase the immersion factor for people without a TrackIR-esque system.
