First let me say; GREAT game! The diligence of the developers really shows.
As a n00b, though, I'm having a little trouble coming to grips with a couple of things. How are you supposed to "find" things as in for a contract? I get to the waypoint where the object was last seen, and can find no way to use "sensors" to locate what I'm looking for (whatever that is...), and visual search isn't turning anything up, either. What am I doing wrong?
Next question, how to I switch to the "bubble canopy" mentioned in the manual?
And an observation / suggestion: There's quick save functionality, and more save options from the Esc. menu. But I can find no Load functionality short of Exiting the game to the Pilot screen again. A Quick Load would be nice! Seems a little awkward; not horrible, just awkward.
Thanks, Guys!

Couple of Quick Questions From a N00b...?
Hi HerrBaron,
I'm relatively new myself but I think I know the answers to these:
When finding a lost item for a contract, you want to look for a purple blip on radar (purple = NO I.D., jump gates also show up as purple). Usually the waypoint is close enough to pick up the item on radar but sometimes you have to fly around a little bit first.
The bubble canopy thing is an option in your graphics settings... you can't change this while in-game as far as I know. After you've selected your pilot but before hitting launch, head over to options and under graphics you should see some choices for cockpit type. Using the "no struts" version should give you what you're looking for. There are also several custom cockpits made by other players as mods that you can check out... one made by Accountant provides really great visibility but I found it didn't quite work at the resolution I run because some of the gauges were off the screen. But it might work for you if you're running at widescreen resolutions. Anyway, Accountant's custom cockpit is here:

As far as I know there is no quick load option, but there is a self-destruct key which will then prompt the load screen. I forget the default binding for this but you can check it under the control options.
Hopefully I got all that right, if not I'm sure a more experienced player will stop by and correct me.
Rock on.

Thank you, guys! Everything I needed to know. (Had to dig out my CH Fighterstick Pro USB for this; long time since she's been outta the box!)
Best always!

yeah a good point, just by way of explanation, when you enter the game from the start menu several features are loaded from the pilot menu ( Reputation is a big thing in this regards I think, though I'm sure there are others ).And an observation / suggestion: There's quick save functionality, and more save options from the Esc. menu. But I can find no Load functionality short of Exiting the game to the Pilot screen again. A Quick Load would be nice! Seems a little awkward; not horrible, just awkward.
The self destruct key is f7 by default, be sure to save often, unless exploring ( and if you do make that mistake generally a pilot online will be able to help you out)
oh yeah, Welcome too

Indeed. Be both generous and careful with saving, the game is very player-centered and will not stop you from saving in a desperate/no-return location. If you happen to save in an awkward spot, usually the only way you can save yourself is by joining a quick round of multiplayer.
