Hey guys,
Just wanted to post a question that i'm clearly unaware of the answer. But in posting this question, please note, espicially vice, I mean no disrespect by any means and if it comes across as disrespectful please accept my deepest apologies.
I have downloaded Legends trial, figured i'd give it a go and see where everyone has gone to lol. I was just wondering how this game is so much more differant then renegades?
I noticed tht my ship looks the same with the same parts to be added on. missions pretty much the same but i did notice the differance in base structures and 3d rendering.
Again, i'm just asking and in no way intend this post to be disrespectful in any way shape or form. Just kinda want the scoop before i decide to buy it eventually.

Legends vs Renegades
Well, the graphics are the most notable right off, but there's a lot more to come. Like ships, missions, weapons, etc.
But I'll let others & Vice clear it up for you.
You won't be dis-appointed, that's for sure!

Legends vs Renegades
# Diverse gameplay choices and activities including racing, spying, mining, trading, commodity shipping, exploring, asteroid clearing, equipment cleaning, crew management, and ship designing. New options including passenger transport, capital ship escort, military war zone missions, multiple waypoint patrols, and planet atmosphere combat contracts. There are many ways to make money and advance in the game.
# Multiplayer capacity increased (for both human players and AI controlled ships).
# New energy pod generators and receivers, which players can use to set up 'capture the flag' scenarios and receive free fuel.
# New constructor stations that you can take raw materials to for constructing components and items.
# Enhanced 3D game engine with new effects, objects, and textures.
# New weapons and equipment include the Lynx, Rage and Cyclone missiles, proximity mines, probes, and new stealth technology.
# New military combat ships you can own and fly ranging from light scouts to heavy interceptors. New capital ships include Cruisers, Battleships, Command Ships, and Destroyers which also join in war zone battles, plus Carriers you can dock with for military objectives and ships.
# Save your designs with the new template system to rebuild later. Store ships and cargo in hangars you can rent at trade stations.
# Supports keyboard, mouse, gamepad, and joystick flight control. Use the control device you prefer to play the game. Force feedback control is also supported.

Legends vs Renegades
There are several differences between the games.
Firstly Legends has higher system requirements than renegades.
Pretty much all the features you find in renegades are in legends, but Legends has a few new features on top of that.
1. military ships and warzones:
there are now a series of military ships with their own limitations and benefits, you can also take part in the vonari war that is taking place throughout the evochron sector
2. mining and crafting:
there are lots more elements and ways to mine, you can also take your goods to a crafting station to create new items
3. new equipment:
specialised missiles, mines and probes and a new stealth device all add tactical goodness to the game
4 new graphics:
Including 'minable' plant life on the planets ( on full detail graphics mode)
5. more customisation options for civilian ships
colour your ship
There is more too including a new quest and new exploration options.
When Legends was first brought out several ppl asked why it was a new game rather than an expansion when so much was the same as renegades. The simple answeer to this is that several of the new features required Vice to rebuild the game from scratch.

Certainly a fair question. Much of the information is available on the game's website itself, including specific improvements/differences. Here is a list of improvements:
http://www.starwraith.com/evochronlegends/faq.htm#1
Then intent of Legends isn't necessarily to be 'so much more different' than its predecessor, but rather a sequel to produce a 'higher fidelity' Evochron game with improved graphics, new weapons, new technology, new objectives, plus military role options including combat focused spacecraft, contracts/missions, and ranking; a new objective based beacon quest has also been added along with improved physics, new solar systems, and smarter AI. The same formula of freeform gameplay is preserved (keeping it true to the Evochron concept rather than becoming something different).

After flying with you last night, I realized that the collision detection system changed a lot. For me, that's a big deal, because I can be a bit of a sloppy flyer, and there were times that I got "stuck" and bounced back and forth for a little bit
I imagine that it is a bit like going from Flight Simulator 2000 to Flight Simulator 2004. When it comes down to it, the premise of the game is the same, but everywhere you look there are improvements and changes.

I still have to find that mission. If it's a mission.

In Legends there is also a dedicated contract option. They are sometimes offered at cities, the waypoint will be placed inside the atmosphere where an intercept of hostile ships needs to take place.
