For most of us time is very precious and there is nothing more boring then using your warp drive over and over again. Even with my mantis drive, it still takes forever to get there and forever getting back.
There should be a Rift Space Warp Tunnel.

You could create your own in single player. That is what is so wonderfull about this game. But make sure you make a back up copy of the data.txt file before modifying it.Originally posted by Star King

What about something like a much quicker route, but it takes you through a very hostile area? I think it would need a trade off of some kind... Having to fight your way there would be neat.

We didn't find "extra powered mentis drive" in Andromeda. We could jump easily between far systems, especially in Mp!

Point remains Riftspace is a far-flung, secret area. There should be no fast and easy way into RiftSpace.

Why don't you just be more patient?
I suggest we can make out jumpdrive just automatically jump and then we have to wait for a long time to get there...
instead of 100 instant jumps
And the better jump drive you have the faster you will get there.

This is just my opinion:
Yes and the game is suppose to be fun! Remember it's a game and the more people that play it the more people will buy it.
The effort to get to Rift Space should be equal to and not greater then getting to Deneb.
Again time in our daily schedule is what allows us all to play.

The Story Line of the Renegades Beacon quest explains the reason for the far and difficult to reach and find riftspace gate. Which is the War with Vonari! If it was easy to reach then the amount of traffic would give its location away to Vonari!;)

Unless you want an easier path to Riftspace in multiplayer, the point is moot.
For *single player*, all you have to do is create an easy path from anywhere you want to the Riftspace gate area by modding the universedata.txt file. Use gates, wormholes, both / either. Create a path to / from Sapphire if you want to. Create many paths from many systems. For that matter you could just skip the Riftspace gate, and just create a path(s) to Riftspace itself.
You could even have multiple copies of the universedata.txt file in several intuitively named folders. Keep the *default* file for multiplayer, and one or more singleplayer versions with your easy path(s) to the Riftspace gate. Before invoking a multiplayer session, just get your pilot positioned in a good place (wherever you tend to meet people in MP), exit the game, copy your MP version into the game directory, and restart the game.
Is that "cheating"? Depends on your point of view. Its a choice... play the game as it was designed... or mod it... it was also designed to be MODDED.
There have been vague hints dropped here and there that there is a way to "travel anywhere you want to go instantly", even in MP. This existed even back in Evo Renegades. I'm not sure, but I think I have actually seen it happen once or twice, though maybe I was misinterpreting things... that is, people in MP would travel from one sector to another just a LITTLE too quickly, even seeming to skip sectors. Whenever it's mentioned, though, the discussion is quickly dropped. *IF* such an exploit exists, whoever knows about it and is using it is keeping it to themselves. Maybe they have a series of mods handy, like I've described... leave MP, exit the game, use the mod to go from one end of the universe to the other, restore from the mod, then restart the game and re-enter MP. They just do it too quickly (from practice) to be noticed.
