Lovin EL so far. I've owned most of the X games, but could never get engrossed in them.
This game is easy to get into, but has hidden depths. I'm making money right from the beginning, thinking "this is too easy!"
But then, I see prices to mod my ship, and ok, not too easy!
I'm sucking at combat so far, but I haven't even read the manual yet (if there is one, I haven't checked).
I just did the tutorial missions, then dove in.
This game even tipped me into looking at FreeTrack. Even bought a cheap IR light clip-thingy.
EL has been the gateway drug back into flight sims, after a 15-20 year absence. (i just bought IL2 cheap on Steam, but have yet to buy a joystick.. i sure to appreciate flight games that support the mouse)
Anyway, just wanted to say Hi, and Kudos to the Author!

Thanks Karin. Question: which light tracking model do you use? 3 point clip, 3 point hat, other?
Aside: FreeTrack users...
I have no photo negatives in the house to cover my webcam with (used to block visible spectrum, but not IR, light right?).
Are there other materials you've used with any success?
I don't want to limit my freetrack usage to darkness.

I use a 3 point hat that I built it myself over the course of a week or so. It runs off 1 AA rechargeable battery, uses IR LEDs and is built discreetly into a normal baseball cap. You can see images of my setup here, on the FreeTrack forums. The image in my avatar at left shows the hat too.
Supposedly you can use the magnetic media from a floppy disk as a way to filter out all visible light and allowing only IR to pass through too. Just crack it open, pull out the black disc and cut out a suitably-sized portion. It's thicker than film negative, so you probably need only one layer.
I made some comments in the other thread too

Since I have something to use for now yeah, I think I'll play with building myself a ballcap version like you have.. AA powered..much more convenient i think.

Not that I've ever used stuff like Freetrack, but looking at the bottom of that page I realize you can just go buy a wide hat and glue some tea-light candles to it. Bit dangerous though...
