Questions regarding Cargo Pickup/Identify missions.

Post by Veridius »

Hello, I just picked up this game here a few days ago after getting another craving for a space sim game. I enjoy it quite a bit so far, but I have one thing boggling me, and it can't be a very complicated deal. Every time I accept a mission to locate and identify or pickup cargo, I can't find it. I'll go to the nav point, fly around the area, but nothing shows up on scanners, and I haven't seen the cargo targeting box pop up.

Am I doing something wrong? Not searching enough of the area? I have a bit of the same problem when my science officer tells me there is cargo in a certain heading. I'll fly in that direction for a while, but never see anything.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Veridius, welcome to the forum and the Sim. Missions can seem hard until you get the hang of it. Searches can take some time as you would be bored if it always popped up in front of you. As to the Science officer, what they tell you is a general direction and pitch with no distance so be prepared to travel for awhile. When you get close you should see a new dot with a tail appear on your center 3d navigation display. Good hunting and enjoy. :)

I wasn't sure how long I was expecting to be traveling, but this clears it up, thanks again!

yeah, just warp to the coordinates and fly around the area and a pink dot will eventually appear on the scope. Most of the time it's within seconds of the reaching the waypoint marker. Head for the dot and you'll find it.

Hi Veridius, Welcome to the game and Forum.
All the pink dots with tails are unknown objects so just head in the direction of the waypoint or the Coordinates and fly around the area till the Pink dots pop up. You have to be a certain min distance for them to pop up! The white ones that pop up is popcorn courtesey of Starwraith 3D Games!lol:P:P:P

Good question Veridius, I was wondering the same thing. Just bought the game the other day myself. Can't wait to really dive in to it. Finally bought myself a mining/tractor beam last night, figured I probably couldn't pick up stuff w/ out it.

yeah, i've just bought the game yesterday (its awesome!!!), and had the same problem: no clues in the "quest log" nor in the tutorial about "look for a small pink dot with a tail, till your eyeballs going to hurt:)))" - so this one is not a user-friendly thing, but o well, thats why we have forums:)

otherwise the game is awesome, i cant wait to explore more (and fight haha)

Most beacons do NOT show on radar. The one on Erato does for a different reason.
I think Vice did this after so many people had difficulty finding it! And even with the pink dot it was hard to locate it was like you never could get close to it and allways seemed to be on the other side of the planet then where you are!lol:P
