Epic rescue.

Post by warhawk »

Hello fellow mercenaries.

I would firstly like to thank Cheops and Ben for their considerable efforts in helping me out, and for their guidance, last night in my first deep space exploration adventure, and for the most determined and skilled rescue they performed to help me out.

I have been enjoying my time in the Cerulean warzone very much, but have not seen much of the universe lovingly created by Vice. When Cheops and Ben sugested a trip to Vonarion it was a great temptation. I was not well equiped for such a journey, but Cheops willingly offered fuel for the jouney. So off we went. We formed up in orion and set off together. Unfortunately I am not yet experienced in deep space exploration and got seperated and soon ran low on fuel after seemingly enless jumps with the mantis drive. I let the guys know I had bingo fuel and Ben cleared the path from bogies and Cheops generously refueled me and we went on our way again. Whilst looking around and jumping I wasnt paying atention to my fuel and completely ran out in riftspace having jumped with inertial switched on. There I was flying completely helpless and doing 4K with no controll. I couldnt stop. Inertial would not switch off and I sped helplessly through unknown space. I wa not on Radar for the other guys but by a bit of luck I had to take out some hostiles with my Excals. Ben saw them and fond me bby me firing my weapons as a beacon. Unfortunatey because I was doing such a speed it was most dificult to open trade and several determined attempts were made but failed. All I could do was hope. More hostiles came and were defeated and more refueling attempts were made and again failed. I was resigned to having to start again as I had saved game after the bandits were destroyed. Soon Ben had to refuel himself and went to guard the gate and keep it clear. Cheops came back and had to take out a constant stream of hostiles. By this time it seemed like I had drifted helplessly across the vast propotion of riftspace and I guess by this time several hours had past. Still Both Ben and Cheops were there trying to figure out what could be done and wouldnot leave me. Eventualy Cheops got in range and as soon as the trade request came up I got fuel and came to a stop. I filled up and we kept on our way. Eventual reaching Vonarion I jumped into a nebula and they patiently waited for me. You had to be there realy but their determination and loyalty to fellow pilots is exemplary. I am looking forward to fighting theVonari on their own turf and can not thank Cheops and Ben enough for firstly showing the way but also for the great assistance and patience they offered this novice explorer. It is a trait that I have experienced constantly since discovering the Starwraith games that I have been fortunate to fly with such a great bunch of people. For the time being I will explore Vonarion untill I can get back LOL! Such an adventure and I think it will be quite a time before such a tricky rescue is completed succesfully again.

THANKS GUYS!.

All the best.

I had the privilege of listening in on a lot of the chat during warhawk's rescue. His friends did a great job. :)

I was there for the movement to RS from Orion... things were slow to start but started moving quickly. Great job and you were right, this did end up on the forums!

Now that's fun. Sadly, most people would just ALT+Q, then F7 at that point to come to a full stop.

There is a little more drama to the story which warhawk missed out. While Ben and I were leapfrogging trying to get a lead on his actually heading I came up behind ben who mistook me for an unfriendly and gave me 8 in the face. I manged to take out 2 with my cannons but the others hit leaving me with no nav no engines and almost no weapons. I had no choice but to sit and let the repair system and my engineer worked overtime (who cheats at cards). This left me lagging behind badly but it was one of those serendipitus moments as Warhawk transmitted his last position I made a typing error, jumped and landed right on top of him.

Alt Q F7 is too quick a way out sometimes, this is more than a game or a chance to prove your a bad boy. Its about team work, looking after your buddies and never leaving them in the lerch. Character building I call it. I think WarHawk is the real hero because he trusted Ben and myself to find and rescue him. That kind of trust is worth more than all the rankings that can be earned.
Heghlu\'meH QaQ jajvam <- for the Vonari

Ranks: Military:- Fleet Admiral Civilian:-Legend. Current number of confirmed kills:- 50,000 give or take a thousand.

That's what I'm talking about. Heh, good times :). Reminds me of the multiplayer only servers - were those or weren't those the type in which you can't save unless you quit the game?

Hear hear Cheops... absolutely agree with that. If roles had been reversed, I'd have done the same thing you guys did for Warkawk the other night, and me last night. Awesome effort... def gold medal performance for all of you who helped us both.
