Can You Totally Remove Ship Components?

Hi again i cant seem to find an the answer i am looking for.
I have build many ships now and played with some of the ship combo's but i am wondering.

Can you remove a componets?

In this case i want to get rid of cargo hold 1 setting it so cargo hold 0 like the fighter has and regain that 15 assembly points.

Nope...I know it would be nice for the civilian ships. The military ships in Legends have no cargo bays but you can get some really big Fuel tanks.

Edit: Gas tanks should be Fuel Tanks

I thought that was the case with civ ships.
Guess i will have to work more on my military kills now.

I just bought a Renegade and was pimping it out to go back to kick some butt.

Remember: Your military Rank goes up with how many missions you complete in the Talison or Cerulean War Zone....not your kills

Oh yeah i realized that today when i was in there this morning.
I noticed i had reach Ensign and realized it had to be cause of the war zone kills.

I left to get a bigger badder ship and go back
