where does the jettisoned cargo go?

Post by wolis »

I was mining, filling up with metal, felt like jettisoning it, so I did.

Then thought I would have fun chasing after it and practice catching it.. but its gone.

So I tried again, still nothing new appeared on my radar, next try I flipped to external view.. still nothing.

Am I missing something (apart from my cargo)?

Same thought here... seems illogical is doesn't create a container.

Same problem with delivery missions where you have drop off cargo to a capital ship. I have yet to finish one of those because its exceedingly difficult to guess where the bottom of the ship is supposed to be.

Jettison the cargo beneath the ship. Usually, the bottom side shouldn't be too hard to find if you keep in mind they move with 0 pitch. If you'd jump in horizontally at exactly 0 pitch, the bottom is 'below'.

Again, just try and fly horizontally at 0 pitch. The pitch ladder, central on the screen, should line up with your recticle at the line 0. If you do that, usually the bottom is 'beneath' the carrier. Press "J" to jetisson the cargo to allow the carrier to pick it up.

Ok thanks, will try this as soon I'm done mining this asteroid ;)

Is the "]" the same as left clicking on the cargo?

Pressing the "j" key *jettisons* the cargo, necessary for those delivery missions. You DON'T have to have your inventory console up to use this.

Clicking the item / specific cargo bay in the inventory console "destroys" the cargo, emptying and freeing up that bay. Useful for mining... if you want to haul, say, 125 units of *just platinum*.

For the delivery missions... under the transport, and the "sweet spot" is about 600 meters (from the range indication when you have the transport targeted). Seems to be somewhat ahead of the transport midpoint area.

You need to be less that 750 distance units away from the Capital, otherwise it will not jettison. Also be advised that if you do jetison as directed using the J key, then all you cargo will go, so I strongly sugggest you selll stuff before taking a transport contract. Dont want to give away you hard earned cargo do you!!!
