No asteroids at an asteroid clearing destination

Hi,

I'm in Sapphire, Outpost 1, and I choose a contract to clear 20 asteroids.

So I F2 to:
X: 70056
y: 10540
Z: -70049

But not an asteroid in sight.. yet I saw some before I docked - even some around Outpost 1 and they have have gone.

I saved and reloaded and still no asteroids.

Is the best plan to cancel the contract or leave it as an unfinished contract? Will this effect my rating?

If a location has asteroids on the map, they are there. They should be close to jumping location. Take notice, if you cant find them, take a pitch of -45 or 45 and a heading of 45 or - 45. You should see some asteroids if you watch carefully.

Find the closest ones you can even if it is not at the same nav point but in the same sector and start blasting away...you will get credit for each one in the text screen and you will be done in no time.

Thanks for the suggestions.. but this was a case of:

1) enter area close to Outpost 1 and marvle at the glorious asteroids.
2) Dock at Outpost 1 and start an asteroid clearing contract as I know it will be nice and close.
3) Leave Outpost 1 and ALL of the asteroids have vanished (up, down, left, right and everywhere).
4) fly the the waypoint that was a bit further away than I thought it would be .. and still no asteroids.

It was like starting the contract inadvertently effected the existing asteroids.

I just quit without saving and left Outpost 1 well alone.

yeah I have troubles finding those asteroids myself, oh well back to mining - it also pays a lot better
