Alliance 2.0

Post by OmniusALX »

Just a quick question....as Legends is almost upon us I was thinking of the 'Evochron' universe and the crafted story that surrounds the whole game universe.

What order to all the StarWraith games follow each other in the 'cronological' sense of the story?

Also where does Alliance 2.0 fit? I see there is no forum or even any downloads for it...is this because Renegades 'replaced' it as the newer version?

Regards ;)

its pretty much in order that the games were released in -
sw1 , sw2, sw3, riftspace, evochron, evochron alliance, arvoch, alliance 2.0, renegades, legends.

Its worth pointing out that the evochron games up untill EA2.0 had no real story element, and as such really only represented the sw3d universe as it was during this period, and as such the only real factor that effects the chronology is the ship technology.

Renegades and legends both have a story element, but renegades still has aspects of being 'evochron over a period of time', while legends is slightly more fixed in time.

fraid I can't find the evoclopedia thread, but that explains the major history of the sw3d universe.

I've spoken with rami, and once the rest of my stuff is done I'm hoping to create a database system for the evoclopedia, this would include game chronology, history, ships and technology.

Evoclopedia thread:

I asked (almost) the same question under General Discussion -> "Evochron Backstory". I was focused on the history / story elements in my question(s).

Spot on that man!

You've got it right on the money, thats exactly where I got my 'online persona' ID from, I just love that whole concept of super machines and A.I. ...and as a long time Dune fan, the Legends Trilogy I thought was awesome! So when I got my Alienware (dont flame me! I like them) PC I needed to capture that concept of a 'super' machine. Thats when I remembered Omnius from that trilogy :D and the avatar was from another famous 'thinking machine' H.A.L!

Back to the 'Evochron' universe, I'll be looking forward to the site you're putting together, so is Alliance 2.0 classed as 'replaced' by renegades? Will we see Renegades being removed from the site when Legends becomes the 'norm' I can understand with Alliance and Renegades being the same type of game there is only really room for one 'open ended' game to not only play but also support, so I wouldn't lose any sleep if Renegades was ultimately replaced with Legends.

It makes sense really, the reason I think Arvoch is still 'current' is its more of a mission based game like the Wing Commander/FreeSpace games, so it doesn't 'conflict' with the Renegades/Legends game (which is more of a Frontier/X3 style)

not as such, I think it was removed from the website and forums mainly due to the mass exodus from EA2.0 to renegades. but it still holds a place in the timeline.

Don't expect "Renegades" to be phased out by Legends either. Renegades is a "stand alone" game. It has a very large player base, there will continue to be "updates" for it as they become available, and at least one server will continue to support it.

Evochron Alliance 2.0 was an update to Evochron Alliance. Renegades, in turn, was a sequal that added a lot, but the old universe system (a sequential 1-30 system) had been replaced by the seamless universe. For that reason, Alliance 2.0 seems to have been 'replaced'. The main playerbase moved on.

For Renegades, however, predictions are different. There is a major difference in system requirements and focus. Where Legends will basically be a massively beefed up version of Renegades, with high-end graphics, possibilities and options. Renegades, however, will most likely continue to cater the lower-end systems.

Arvoch Conflict, indeed, caters a completely different part of space simulations - the combat area. It is purely action-based, and elements of it return in Evochron Legends (i.e. military flight).

Evochron Legends, of course, will have the main focus in sales after release. Personally, I do not think Renegades will lose updates or the majority of its userbase. We might even see a rise in Arvoch online play, seeing Evochron Legends does allow military flight and Renegades does not.
