First, thanks again Vice, and everyone who is helping me learn this game.

Sometimes by Nav tells me to go in a heading and pitch to find something, I do but never see anything... Generally how far away are things when he tells you?

Also, IS there an any more documentation that I can read?

That's the tricky part, they could be close or very far away. The more precise you are with the pitch and heading values, the better your chance of locating the item that has been pinged. As a quick tip, you can jump out of the area and back to receive new coordinates and if you jump to different corners of a sector, you can eventually triangulate a more accurate location to search in.

There is the instructions that come with the game, the strategy guide, and the tips/tactics thread on this forum. Those provide a lot of information and the strategy guide details more advanced gameplay concepts/systems along with secrets.

Not Navigator; that'd be your Science Ops pointing you towards a suspected cargo container. My advice: jump in and out of the system and average your coordinates with regard to the pitch and heading, then from that get an approximate as to where the cargo containers are; after doing so, head in that direction 'til it shows up on your short-range scanners... if it doesn't, then try again and start adding Y coordinates to your plotting, and keep plugging away at those averages. Objects show up if they're within 10 kilos; though that is increased depending on the skill level of your navigator, provided you have one. It will be marked as purple, though standard cargo (not static objects) that were jettisoned or dropped off of a destroyed ship will be marked as white. It could take a while, and ultimately might not be worth it altogether, but who knows?
