I just hired my first crew tonight. I hired one scientist and paid him more than the fair wage by 50 or 100. His loyalty started out as yellow, but once I finished the mission, docked, and sold stuff, he wasn't there! How do I keep crew members around? He had 97 skill, I assume of a maximum of 100!
Thanks
Rob

Crew Leaving
I believe the maximum for loyalty and skill are both 99.
Loyalty, I believe, is added to on a per-cycle basis, with however much additional pay you are allowing him is brought down to a percentage in reference to the 'fair wage,' and is added to a value that I don't know at present for your total added loyalty, up to 99 loyalty eventually.
100-(PresentLoyalty)=%Chance to leave.
Example: Your Science Ops has 56 loyalty. 100-56=44. Thus, you have a 44% chance of your science ops leaving. Provided he/she had 75 loyalty, then you have a 25% chance of him leaving, or 1/4. He can only leave if you dock at a station or a city, so your best option is to stay away from them until his/her loyalty reaches 99, at which point it cannot increase any further. After that, there is still a 1% chance of leaving, in which case you'd simply have to replace him/her.

Crew Leaving
I found it better to choose crew with high loyalty to start with. They will learn the skills in time. Then keep paying them overs. You will lose one every now and then, but mostly they will stay. Max is 100.Originally posted by rayres2008b
