Playing in VR.
Hi, I'm playing the demo in VR and first of all, I have to say that the contents of the vrmode.txt file have been changed to some random values.
1
SteamVR Status
when it should be:
Status SteamVR=1
Once that was fixed, I found that the cockpit is disproportionate to the pilot's size (giant controls and seat).
I think that value is in the vrsetup-bak file in the CCPitScale variable, but changing the values doesn't change the cockpit size.
Another issue is that when I close the game, I have to close it manually using the Windows administrator. The game gets stuck on a permanent black screen.
The VR game is amazing.

Re: Playing in VR.
Glad you're enjoying the game. Not closing upon shutdown may relate to some unreleased process, likely Steam related. Changes to 'vrmode.txt' may impact that (see below) or there could be some other problem with the operating environment.
For 'vrmode.txt', no, is has not been changed and needs to follow the provided format for it to function properly. The '1' in line one designates the launch/startup behavior and will allow VR to not force start every time the game starts. You can optionally change that to '0' to apply forced startup behavior any time SteamVR may be running in the background (and bypass the dependency for proper process name alignment). Line two specifies the process name required to link with SteamVR. You can change that to match whatever the process name might be on your system if it may have been altered due to Windows language settings or other conditions.
Indeed, changing values in the 'vrsetup-bak.txt' file won't apply changes in the game. This is because that is the sample reference file included with the game to provide the default settings and options in a format that can be updated by the installer and Steam while also not overriding settings you apply should they ever be changed. What you'll need to do is make any desired changes, then save the file as 'vrsetup.txt' without the '-bak' in the filename. You can then keep the backup file in place for reference in case you want to view any changes or reapply default settings.

Re: Playing in VR.
Thank you so much! I played the first Evochron (my account is from 2009), and now with VR it's even more enjoyable.
When I've finished configuring the vrsetup.txt file, I'll leave it here in case anyone with Quest 3 wants to use it.
I'm also translating the game into Spanish, which is very easy thanks to the AI. (I just have to make corrections as I play).
I'm going to buy the Steam version that I saw was on sale, so it will be better integrated with SteamVR. Glad to be back in this galaxy, Vice!

The game also has workshop support, it'll be interesting to find out how upcoming interiors will look to VR players :-)

Re: Playing in VR.
Hi!
When I enter the game in VR, I don't see the anti-aliasing options, but I do see them on a "flat" screen. Is this normal?
Also, I've modified the vrsetup.txt file so that the sizes are proportional to the viewpoint. I modified them in the Spanish translation I did and took the opportunity to translate them as well. I'm using Quest 3, in case that's helpful to anyone.

Yes, that is normal. The AA techniques the game can apply/access are limited to certain post-processing methods that aren't compatible with the system that sends out images to the VR compositor. Only the raw images can be sent. So if any effects are to apply, they'd need to be done at the compositor level (ie VR settings/control panel), if available.
Very cool on the Spanish translation. I may add the ZIP file to your post so it is directly available from the forum. Also, would you like me to move it to the customizing section of the forum or leave in the main Evochron forum? I'm fine with it either way.

You can post the translation wherever you think is best. I'll keep an eye out for future updates if you change or add text. You can also post it on the Steam forum.
Many Spaniards don't buy video games if they aren't translated.

Looks like a comprehensive translation. The only missing lines I could find at the moment that were added recently were:
3163=< Player Object Validation Mismatch >
3174=Sell Stored Ship Frame?
3175=Reloading/Rebuilding Cockpit

I've checked that the text fits in the right place. Thanks, I'll add those lines.

Re: Playing in VR.
Since your translation is so comprehensive, I think it would work well as a full installable item, both direct and Steam Workshop. I spent some time going through the game and found some places where there is spill-over outside of button frames, some overlapping, and two missing lines. Here is a ZIP file with screenshots showing where some text leaks outside of buttons frames and/or overlaps with other text due to length (areas highlighted with green boxes, likely just abbreviations and/or shorter words would be needed):
https://www.starwraith.com/evochronlega ... panish.zip
'screen4.jpg' shows the two missing lines, which are these two in the text.dat file:
2739=Ship Tracking View Mode Zoom In:
2759=Ship Tracking View Mode Zoom Out:
I can't say this in an exhaustive analysis of every line, but this is all I could find at this point.
For installation without overriding the default english files, each file can have '-lang' added to its filename and then all placed in a main \hud folder within the \media folder and the game will load the Spanish alternatives while leaving the english versions alone. Here is a ZIP file with examples of how the folder and filenames can be set up for such installation:

Re: Playing in VR.
I'm sending you the zip file with the corrections.
As I play it and find bugs, I'll fix them. Add it to the Steam Workshop whenever you think it's appropriate.

Re: Playing in VR.
I can add it if you would like me to. Just let me know how you would like to be credited in the notes/description.
Some of the ship descriptions have a line that drops a little low, but is still legible, so not a big deal if they couldn't be shortened.
There were just two lines I could find this time around that went a bit long:

Don't hesitate to tell me about any new bugs. I just bought the game on Steam.
I'll post a review on Steam in Spanish later.
I can't wait to start it! I haven't played since Evochron Renegades, and now in VR! Thanks, Vice!

Re: Playing in VR.
I've incorporated some revised characters and a font table so that the 'a', 'o', 'n', and 'u' characters appears more like the default characters. To reinstall for updated characters/changes, simply uninstall through the Workshop and reinstall.
Few other minor line limits (there may be more in the tips text, this was just one I found):

Updates applied for Steam Workshop and direct download ( https://www.starwraith.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=14374 ).
Now that you own the game on Steam, if you'd like to take over the Workshop listing, just let me know. I can e-mail you a ZIP with the files so you can manage updates/changes through your Steam account.

Re: Playing in VR.
Sounds good to me, I've never uploaded anything to the Steam workshop, but if it's simple I can do it. In a month I will be able to play it thoroughly and then I will correct more in detail.
