Distance calculation, manual vs autopilot?
So I noticed something in my most recent session (video out on 6/13). In Pearl, the distance from the Rucker gate to the Warzone gate is 11S. If I attempt to do a manual jump from one to the other, even with the Mantis drive I am not able to cross the distance in a single hop. However, if plot the route, it gives me a single waypoint and the autopilot is able to do the jump in a single hop. Is this intended? Is the autopilot just a little bit better than a human pilot at calculating that jump?

Yes, if you allow the computer to plot and activate the jump, it can apply a slight buff for some added distance. May come into play a bit more with diagonal hops, but think of the computer as being able to round up a bit (up to an additional sector) while manual plotting can be more strict.
