[EL] Constructor Stations?
Hi, I've found a guide mentioning converting hydrogen to fusion cells in EM:
"Fusion Cells can be created out of Hydrogen by the use of a constructor station (5 to 4 ratio)"
Does that still exist in EL?
My understanding of a "production module" when building stations was to produce stuff from raw materials.
I've spent all morning mining metal, building my first station just to discover it was all for "nothing" (I'm sure there are other perks but not the one I had in mind).
Can I convert anything in EL apart from fuel?

Re: [EL] How do you use constructed modules?
Constructor stations do not exist in EL. The few crafting options in EM were replaced by a new 'engineering lab' which allows you to craft a wide variety of equipment items. You do that manually in engineering labs using build formulas. Production modules do help build better technology from raw materials for a local station's inventory (items you have access to simply buy). But in terms of crafting, you do still handle that manually as part of gameplay and build what you want from the materials required to craft the item(s) you want. For more on the differences and new options in the new game, this development page is available: http://www.starwraith.com/evochronlegac ... opment.htm

That's great, thanks. I now understand why EL is not an upgrade to EM.
I have another question though. I started the game as an independent pilot. I can't seem to be able to trade with AI pilots (for much needed engineering lab schematics) so I'm kind of stuck. How can I change NPCs attitude towards me?

Re: [EL] How do you use constructed modules?
If you are independent, you should generally consider yourself solo/alone. While other ALC and FDN pilots won't generally attack you unless provoked, they will also be less inclined to trade with you and conduct business. You may still find some ships willing to open the trade link with, but if you want a more accessible ship-to-ship trade option, you may want to temporarily switch your faction affiliation to align with the territory you are in so you can request information from local ships (you can switch your faction affiliation in the 'Rename Pilot' menu in the profile manager). Then when you want to return to IND, you can switch back. You can also optionally find build formulas via data drives and shipwrecks via exploration. So either or both are options.

Re: [EL] How do you use constructed modules?
Very good information ^^. I've started a second station in open play mode as of a couple of days ago. I had a fairly large station built in solo mode but nobody can see my handy work there.Vice wrote:Welcome, glad you're enjoying the game. I enjoy hearing close call stories like that
Most modules are 'used' in the course of station operations and as such, you 'use' them to benefit your faction, available inventory/technology (including for your ship directly), market conditions, and defensive capabilities. For example, if you want to have higher tech equipment be available to you to buy, you expand the local tech level by building production and storage modules, with supporting living/crew modules. How in the world do you use the modules that you construct? I understand about the Command Center, and can use the deployable modules, but how can you use Storage, or the Living Crew modules, for example?
For specific uses and function for each module type:
Storage, production, and command modules can help increase local technology levels. Their benefit is roughly 3.3% per module added to the base regional level. Storage modules help store items that are built and made available in local inventories, production modules help produce items that are built and made available in local inventories, and command modules include benefits of both of the other modules (although you can only build one of these per sector, so the other modules can be used to expand things further). Module totals for analysis are available in the Inventory > News/Information screen.
A secondary benefit of storage modules is to provide more weapon storage for weapon turrets. So once you build enough turrets, you'll start to be prompted to build storage modules to help support them.
Crew modules provide living space for the crew needed to support a station once it reaches a certain size. Once you reach certain design limits, the game will prompt you to construct more crew modules to provide the required crew level to support it.
Horizontal and vertical modules are structural pieces that can be used to provide connecting/spacing structures and/or defensive obstacles around other modules. They provide no other functional benefit and are not required as part of a station's design.
Are there any limitations to building a single station? Some of my questions are answered above. Many thanks. But if I want to add 3 or 4 production modules and storage units, etc etc. to a station, and keep adequate power modules located about, is there a limit to how big and complex a station can be ?
Thanks ... having fun

Probably not ... I've seen some really big stations. But keep in mind that some modules (or multiples thereof) require other modules to be built first.

Re: [EL] How do you use constructed modules?
Thanks Marvin. I try to keep adequate power modules scattered around and so far, I have not received any messages that I need to build "this or that" because I built too many of "those"; but I'll be on the lookout.
I will probably build a "big" one but most likely it won't be the biggest. I like this station building since I've learned how to position modules so the modules hookup to each other.
I'll let you know where it is once it gets big enough to impress the casual space traveler.
Thanks again and have a nice day

Missile modules are usually the ones you try to build to excess. I forget which module it is which needs to be built before you can continue adding defenses but, when the time comes, the message you get in chat should be pretty clear on the matter. That said, which server are you using for this massive station of yours?

Re: [EL] How do you use constructed modules?
Its not massive yet. Its just a starter station with production and storage modules, a shield, a dozen or so living modules, and 4 or 6 power modules. (oh, and so far only two defensive turrets)
I built a couple of stations in the Merc days in Lost Rucker. That was my home but I have not spent any time trying to find the new coordinates for the gate to Lost Rucker. Can I get them PM'd to me possibly ?
The system I'm building in is not a high conflict or contested system (I don't think), so I've put off building too many defensive modules around it. (there's an obvious hint in this post where it is - and the name should be obvious and its in a US server - Rim is in the name IIRC).
Thanks and have a nice day

The sector hasn't changed. But you really don't need to get help ... leastwise, no help other than what the navigation console gives you once you enter the sector (hint: check the left side of default F1).hank wrote:I built a couple of stations in the Merc days in Lost Rucker. Re: [EL] How do you use constructed modules?
I had the Lost Rucker gate coords in my list to the left of the nav screen (F1) in the Merc days. ( along w/ lots of other cool places)
But this is a new computer and I did not reinstall Merc. I bought Legacy fresh and installed it on the new rig. I don't know if that matters but I'm guessing maybe the map coords list migrated over to Legacy when a person upgrades.
I'm going to find the maps and notes I took in the Merc days this weekend. I recently moved so stuff is still misplaced.
Thanks for the help. This weekend I'll add more to my station and maybe by then I'll know how to get to Lost Rucker and start one there. Building stations is fun.

Re: [EL] How do you use constructed modules?
Sector coordinates - SX,SY,SZ - should (mostly) be the same for the cool places and you have listed. In-sector scale for Legacy has been increased by a factor of 10, so you may have to do some simple math to compensate for those pinpoint locations. Some places have been moved or removed to accommodate the new game and some of the events which have passed since EM. Some of it seems to be part of the common lore of Evochron. Some of it seems to be part of the lore only Vice knows...

If interested, my latest station is in Lost Rucker called Shiloh Cafe. Check it out and give feedback on design. I'm going back to my first station to continue work there.
Do you know of any impressive stations to go visit ? I would like to see what other people build.

Is Caleb's a public server ?
I have a fairly large station in Rucker now. It has a bad module to module mistake but its a little hard to find. I will continue adding to it some more before I head back to Lost Rucker to work on my other.

Re: [EL] How do you use constructed modules?
I was there and saw Marvin and others. That is a busy server. Outer Rim is dead in comparison.
I may have to start a station in Orion Sigma but build it a bit different than I normally do with more defenses. I saw Baelzebub UK in Sapphire (excuse my spelling); and its a fairly large station grouping with lots of turrets. Nice.
See you in space.

Re: [EL] How do you use constructed modules?
I have two stations built on Outer Rim server. One is in Rucker and the 2nd is in Lost Rucker. (names: hanks bar & grill and shiloh cafe, respectively)
I started a station on Caleb's server last week but the past few days it did not show up in the public server list. So, I went back to work on my stations in Outer Rim this weekend.
The stations in Outer RIm are starting to get fairly large. Come by and see them if you get some time.
