I went to answer a distress call and after the first few jumps realized how far away the destination was and how long it might take. So instead of stopping it, being kind of late, i decided to just leave it running and go to bed, curious about where i might end up and thinking if worst came to worst i could always reload from a previous save.
So got up to day, dead in space, 0 fuel and even tho i tried to take care NOT to save when exiting the game, it reloads in the same spot.
So anyway to reload this pilot from a previous save?
Anyway to go back to a previous save? EM

Only if you save in other available save game slots along the way. If not and you've only saved in one slot, you can either have me help with the save game or have another player provide rescue in multiplayer.

Ok thats fine, guess ill have to make sure i have a backup slot for every pilot, i dont remember saving in that particular situation. The save routine in this game is different than others i have played.
No need to bother, i wasnt really doing much with that pilot and hadnt started the main story yet. Lets just hope he brought something to read

What I used to do, and still do sometimes, is go into the game folder in Windows Explorer and right-click the desired pilot profile (Slot-name-1 inside the game Example Profle 1 = pilot0.sw) and choose Copy and then Paste it back in so it will have a name of Copy of pilot0.sw.
Then if I ever need to restore I can either delete pilot0.sw and rename Copy of pilot0.sw to pilot0.sw -or- rename Copy of pilot0.sw to a new slow name such as pilot1.sw so I can retain both profiles.

It's not obvious from looking at the pilot profile screen but you can have 100 profiles, so there's no shortage of space for backups.

I don't know if the following is what PaulB explained just above, but just to be sure:
This is true for all gamesaves or files on your computer:
From Windows 7 and above, you can right-click a folder (in this case the Evochron game folder) and chose 'Previous versions' (or 'Older Versions', I don't remember). Then a window will appear where you can chose to open this folder as for an older date. Copy from there what you need and paste it in your CURRENT game folder.
Even a pilot profile from monthes ago can be retrieved that way.
I hope you get it back that way,
