Terrain Walker Missons Issue
I have been playing EM now for about a month and am really enjoying it! With the excellent help from this forum I have been able get through the noobie issues I was having at first with no problem. I am having a problem now with the Terrain Walker missions though. The "find lost item" and "survey or scan and area" missions. I was having an issue with the find lost item in space, but once I learned how to follow the purple dot on the radar I had no problem finding the lost item. When doing the lost item on a planet with the TW I do not see a purple dot. I go to the nav point and deploy my walker and look around everywhere. I have spent a lot of time looking in the area. I notice the nav point continues to move slowly. I follow the nav marker and search in the surrounding area but never find anything or every see any indicator on my radar. Regarding the scan area. I do the same thing, I stay around the nav marker and surrounding area to survey the area but nothing ever happens. I am not sure if this is a bug or if I am doing something wrong.

Hi Daggz,
With the "survey area" mission, you don't need to look for a purple blip. The scan will start automatically when you activate your Terrain Walker.
With locate lost item, be careful about planetary rotation... the Nav point is a fixed position, but the planet rotates. That means that the lost item (ie the purple blip) will move with the planet surface away from the Nav point. If it takes you a long time to fly to the location the lost item may have become displaced from the Nav point by some distance. You can try first to locate the item by flying around the area in your ship, then go in your Terrain Walker when you find the purple blip on radar. Another method is to deploy a sensor array to help you locate it.

IIRC, you must be within 2000 of the waypoint when doing a survey. If you land outside of that range, you can just walk up to the waypoint after you've deployed the TW. You should then see a countdown indicator ... accompanied by a buzzing noise.

Hi and thanks for the reply Sinbad & Marvin,
Funny thing, I ran another "survey scan area" mission based on your recommendations and as soon as I deployed the TW I see "scanning" and a countdown timer and was able to complete the mission with no problem. I am not sure what the issue was before. This is exactly how I thought the mission should work so I am puzzled as to why it didn't work like this before. I know I selected the mission because when I went back to the planet station it would tell me " mission failed". I was also able to "find the lost item" as well. I could see the purple dot around the nav point and deployed the TW right on top of it, Mission accomplished!! Thanks for the help.

Would be very nice to see such missions in Legacy, probably they are, but I've haven't got them so far. I guess reputation is a factor.
