How big is the Universe in Evochron?

Post by subsahara »

Hi guys,

I am thinking of buying a copy of this game on STEAM after being disappointed with Elite Dangerous. What I would like to ask is HOW BIG is the game universe: -

* How many systems / places are there to go and explore.

* Is any of the universe procedurally generated / randomized?

* How long does it take before a player runs out of places to explore / go?

* Is this game the sort of game that suits explorer type players or is it more of a smaller universe to explore? (Freelancer / X series) sort of games - in that it is a SET universe?

The game looks definitely worth getting. Just curious as to answer to this question as I cannot find any information anywhere.

Hello,

How many places, too many.

The Universe is the same for everyone with the exception of man made objects.

I have never run out of places to explore.

Exploring is a must.

You can explore 33.5 trillion sectors

Of course most are empty, but basically you can explore a sphere of space 40 000 sectors in diameter

Without spoiling it there are many more uncharted systems for each of the names systems

Thousands, most systems are not listed on the main nav map.
* Is any of the universe procedurally generated / randomized?
Procedurally generated systems, yes.
* How long does it take before a player runs out of places to explore / go?
Most likely you will still be exploring when the next game is released.
* Is this game the sort of game that suits explorer type players or is it more of a smaller universe to explore? (Freelancer / X series) sort of games - in that it is a SET universe?
It is set in that it is the same for everyone. Objects do move in orbits, so it is not a stagnant universe.

Planets rotate. Objects on those planets rotate with the planets. But the planets do not orbit. Nonetheless, there are no cut scenes ... it's one big galaxy where you can travel to and from each planet, dock at cities, take contracts ... and build your own modules.

Odd, there have been times when I have noticed planets and stations move from logged locations. Maybe those have only been the result of updates.... :(

"How many systems / places are there to go and explore."
- There's a lot, more than just the ones that are shown on the Quadrant Map.

"Is any of the universe procedurally generated / randomized?"
- As far as I know, it's a "shared" universe, but you can build your own stations.

"How long does it take before a player runs out of places to explore / go?"
- I've been playing the series since 2011 and have barely scratched the surface of what there is to explore. I've yet to see Vonari space or visit Andromeda, plus the near countless off map systems that exist.

"Is this game the sort of game that suits explorer type players or is it more of a smaller universe to explore? (Freelancer / X series) sort of games - in that it is a SET universe?"
- I've had some really unique exploration experiences with this game, but what I've seen & read others do is incredible. Your experience will be what you make it.

The program just keeps making more.

As far as for things set up that are completely unique, like a black hole / wormhole / shipwreck, I have no idea if that's built in to be created or if its stagnant and you just have to find them...if they are in known space or scattered through the galaxy like throwing change into a grass field.
Do, or do not, there is no try.

Objects like wrecks can be found in known space and parts of uncharted space where you might expect to see a wrecked ship. ;)
