[EL] Hangar: "Not enough money to buy this ship"

Post by Benzin »

Hi guys, im confused about the station hangar...
I entered the hangar planning to store my current ship (buffed up leviathan), so i could go into the shipyard and buy an inexpensive [name of the first ship you get].

But when i click the "Store" button to store the ship, i get an error saying "Not enough money to buy this ship".

Its not that i dont have the fare for the hangar, because i have 6 million bucks, so what im i doing wrong, or is this a bug?

thanks!

When you store your ship you make an absolutely identical copy of it, except for installed equipment, cargo and weapons. So, to store the ship means to buy a copy of your ship and store it in hangar. Maybe 6 million credits is not anough to buy a copy?

oh, thats kind of awkard. :( Having to buy a second identical ship to store the first one.
I dont think 6 million is enough for the whole ship. It has "top" everything.

thanks

It sounds like there are lot of little things like that that are different from EM that I would not like if I were able to run the game on my old laptop.
I'd be rather p.o.ed if I could not just store one of my ships in a hanger so I could then go to the shipyard and swap the copy for a new ship.
I think some things just shouldn't change when it's a game sequel.

This is exactly the same requirement that existed in EM. It hasn't changed in the sequel.

Back on topic... As FC pointed out, you must be wealthy enough to afford duplicating your ship frame before you are allowed to store one. You can then use the current ship as credit toward a new ship design. In Evochron, you are never allowed to be without a ship nor disconnected from one. If you leave one in storage, you must have another one ready to fly. Once you have two ships (one in storage and another ready to fly), then you can swap them around as desired without additional expense beyond regular hangar transaction fees.

The OP did discover a message mismatch with the hangar system however. The game should display line 1321 in the text.dat file, which reads:

Insufficient cash to store the current ship and build a replacement.

Which explains things a little better. That has been changed for the next update.

But I thought he said he had a Leviathon (which I've never bought) but assumed it would be expensive like the Starmaster so that he should be able to afford any Civvie frame.

I never noticed in EM cause when I started buying other frames I already had 100+ millions credits ages ago.
