IMG cities question
For the question, no, probably not. The module construction system is directly tied to the faction ID system for who builds the module (providing the linked track record). And just because a command module may be removed later, doesn't mean the original build link will be removed as well for remaining modules. However, for most module types, this does not impact their functionality. Even if they are tagged as built by one faction, they can remain under neutral operation when under IMG. So for example, it means that production/storage modules will continue to provide their benefits.IMG cities retain original faction identifier for modules, can/will that be changed/updated?

If the label simply annoys you, you can certainly destroy the old ones and rebuild new ones under your faction tag, but it isn't necessarily required for various modules (aside from weapon turrets of course).
A lack of contracts doesn't necessarily mean there are mismatched modules left behind as other factors affect what contracts may or may not be available. Territory control, Vonari presence, and certain local conditions are primary factors. If you'd like me to review a profile you have saved at an IMG city to verify, you can e-mail it to me (starwraith.com > contact).

IMG cities question
The FDN marked IMG city command modules don't allow contracts "due to reputation with system owner" (or some such), even though the systems are now ALC territory.
There used to be FDN stations in the sector until I knocked them off.
(Sidenote: stations are still easy to wipe out, I do it most of time with only guns)
