Quest Help *Warning answers might have spoilers*

I am trying to do the Alliance quest and the step I am on, it said I need a shield battery x5. Ok well I have been shopping for first ship upgrades since I started, and haven't seen any of these in the previous stations this has taken me to.

So from the quest so far, I can either collide with a data node, and get the blueprint (which I have no idea how to find random data nodes)

Or just fly randomly though the galaxy looking in stations? (If that is the case can someone point me sorta in the right direction?)

Thanks!!!! I finally noticed the gates to jump, and there was one in the next system. I then had to haul butt outta there cause there are a bunch of bad guys there, and I have not outfitted squat for combat on my ship. I ran back to Pearl like my hair was on fire.

Being myself a FDN pilot, I had to fall back on memory. Since then (today), I've come across a number of x5 shield batteries ... all at FDN stations.

This game is crazy! I love it cause there hasn't been a good space sim I have come across in a long time.

I am hoping to find a way to 'discover' stuff in systems quicker, a lot of flying around and mining to get started, is that the norm?

Pretty much, yes.

You need cash to be able to upgrade and do more interesting stuff.
