Hello all, i really like the look of Evochron Legacy but have one issue holding me back, i have been a console gamer since my first N.E.S system and have never owned a pc game in my life, i tried to play mass effect 2 once on pc with a mouse and keyboard and didnt like it at all. If i buy Leagacy i was thinking about downloading steam, would this allow me to play Legacy fully with a Gamepad as it does state gamepad use in the description?

Thanks in advance
Tony.

Hi Tony, I have friends that made the jump from console to PC and I'd be lying if they hated it at first because of the mouse/keyboard. After a few weeks though they got the hang of it and now they love it. It does depend on the game obviously. I prefer my controller for car racing and some platformers, though I'm partial to M/KB in some flight games. In Evochron I use mouse and keyboard over my Saitek X52 and my controller. I use the 'mouse direction Rev Y' Scheme because it resets to center after I move it, the mouse point scheme is kinda like a stick/controller where you move it and it will stick where you move it.

I'll go test my xbox controller right now for you and let you know what I find. And I would try the demo first, but you don't own the PC yet. Man, you're going to love it. Games can be had very inexpensively at sites like www.bundlestars.com and www.humblebundle.com, not to mention the Steam sales. The games you buy on those other sites provide you with Steam keys, so you have all your games in one place. I go to a friends house, I just login to my steam account on his computer and I have my library wherever I go, no more discs. All games are backwards compatible, plus you can use any controller you want. Xbox, PS4, logitech, joysticks, steering wheels. You have control over the hardware that goes into your system and can play on a TV, montior anything. I bring my computer to my friends house where we plug it into his 55" flatscreen and use 3 wireless xbox controllers to play couch co-op games.
It can be overwhelming at first but once you take the plunge you'll most likely be hooked. No more paying to play online. You can check out www.reddit.com/r/buildapc for some assistance in choosing parts and maybe what systems are a good deal. I'll go check out the gamepad in EL now. Mouse is way more precise and I have all the controls under my fingers on the keyboard.

Ok I went and tested and it works VERY nicely. You can go through and assign all the sticks to throttle, roll, yaw, pitch and use the triggers for throttle or guns. However you want to configure it. I think it's even better than Mercenary was.

 Please hold that thought. Game controllers are more popular than ever ... for the "younger" crowd, anyway. You might be asked to elucidate on your configuration.

I can't run EL because my laptop is too old but I'm sure it's improved over EM as far as controller configurations and I'm using 2 gampads with EM on my laptop plus an HID 3 button footswitch.
The 2nd gamepad just sits on my table turned arond 180 degrees and is used for extra button and the sticks for changing friendly and hostile targets and the dpad for the Pan function. But to do some of these things I'm doing I have to use (the old free version) of xpadder for certain of my functions because EM doesn't have all the mapping ability I need.

The 1st gamepad is device 1 and the 2nd is device 2.

Thanks Guys for the info and advice, especially to you bodega for taking the time to test your xbox controller for me!

I have downloaded the demo but unfortunately i now have to go to work :(
Damn you bills!

Ill be on it later and will figure out which control scheme works best for me.

I can see myself spending many hours with this game, if all goes well!

Thanks again, Tony.
