Hey all, for a while now I've been trying to hop onto MP occasionally to actually play with people. I sort of look at this game as a replacement for Vendetta Online, whom give the overall impression of having superglued themselves firmly into the year in which they developed their game.
That said, I've been having some trouble running into other cats to play with online, and as a maybe solution to that, I present HOTSPOTS.
Here-in please post the locations you more frequently spend your time in the Evoverse, meeting points, interesting trade routes that many take advantage of and ectcetera.
I'm apologetic to say that, I've always been a bit of a pirate, but its hard to be a pirate if you never find any prey. You always end up defaulting back to mercenary.
But in any event, Sapphire isn't where it seems anyone spends any amount of time. Nor have I been able to locate the occasional people who pop onto a server.
(And since they ignore me when I do see them, I'd really like to hunt them down and blow them into several very small pieces for their unfriendliness.)
So please, post away. Give me fuel to ruin your day, or think of me as a piece of prey, but either way, lets F***IN play!

As stated in the u2u I send, I play evenings (Swedish time) on any server.
I normally right-click the server to see if anyone is on.
To spice it up a bit Mr Pirate, I'll give you 100Mil every time you kill me. No warnings needed, just attack me if you dare!
(Btw, that bounty is valid for anyone willing to fight for it!)
You may even team up if you want. Makes it more interesting!:D

Lmao, I think I'll wait until I've properly decked my ship out for multiplayer before I come after you SeeJay, but I'm no noob with physics engines or space combat. You may regret making that offer, though at the point where I'm capable of financing a ship capable of taking yours out in fair combat, 100mil probably won't be the biggest catch. I've seen people on the forums hint at methods of making 30+mil in under an hour.
That said, that should be something else that's implimented in the game. A player with a high combat rank should give a large payout for the kill. Though I'd love to see dedicated freighter type ships implemented to give us pirates a nice juicy target, maybe a more solid reason for the gunner system. (Which I haven't any clue how to use yet.) And people who just love collecting lots of money and expanding their station empire.
Also if we team up, are we splitting the payout, does it only go to the player who delivered the killing blow, or is that 100 mil per successful ambusher, so long as you die in a fire?
EDIT - Also just because I can see people are on a server, doesn't mean I know where they are. The Evoverse is a pretty big place, its easy to get lost in, whether you mean to hide or you mean to...not get lost.
Hey! Vice! Player hunting scanner equipment please!

LOL!
Two noob players connected with Gunner Binding is a pretty hard target. (Use the F4 key when your friend is targeted)
I'll pay 100mil each to all players in a team. (No splitting)
When online, press Scrollock or Tilde to see what sector everyone is in. In a sector, you can use the Deployable Sensor Thingy.

Fuck I think I love you SeeJay, I think eventually I'll compile a list of all equipment somewhere and what it does, just so people know that it exists. Didn't know there was a deployable scanner thingie, though I think I've run into the station deployer before. Never thought of using one of those to drop and refuel my ship though. Be nice to make a daisy chain towards the edge of the universe and see how far I can get. I'll probably try that later on after I fly around in single player for a bit. I need to actually finish the story quests, I'm only on the third one.
When I first got the game, I was so obsessed with the idea of just deep space exploration, that the fuel limitations and stuff slapped me pretty hard, and I just sat around next to asteroids feeling like EVE Online all over again, trying to grind up enough money to get equipment I need. Specifically I wanted the fuel collector thingie, though I have to say I'm not impressed with how long it takes to refuel a 1000 unit tank with that thing. Refueling close to a star is tedious brah.
Funny about the tilde key, I think I suggested in an earlier topic that Vice should change the jump key to tilde or something, to reduce the unfortunate amount of accidents involving the F2 key. Smack dab in the middle of the two other consoles you open on the order of all the friggin time.
Thanks for letting me know that a noob gunnered up with another noob is a hard target though, useful information that. Probably try to get some practice in with my one buddy later, when I have enough spare funds to grab him a copy of the game.
Really though, do you know anything about Vendetta Online? I'm sure you're confident of your skill playing Evochon, but I'm coming from a twitch combat based environment just like this one, and while its a tad more restrictive with the top speed option, its a newtonian physics game same as this one. With lots of competative people swinging brass balls at each other.
I've dueled and learned from the best, hell I should get my buddy Cunjo to come play this game. Between me, him, and shape I'd deft anyone on the boards to take us out as a trio. Hell, I'd love to see somebody humble Shape! Or Martin, I wonder if those guys still even play Vendetta.
But yeah, In any event, I hope you rock. It'll be way more fun that way.
HI, I'M GOKU!!!!

I'll look into that Vendetta game and see if it's for me. I do require a cockpit view and Newtonian physics, so I'll investigate. Thanks.
Bring all your buddies in and turn up the heat. My trigger finger is itchy!:P
We need more space debris and I'll be happy to turn your ships into debris!
Btw, yeah I ROCK!!!! (At least I can take care of myself out there LOL)!

I guess some of what SeeJay told you was only included in a U2U. To reiterate, the tilde key displays every player's location and most mercenaries eventually re-map the "jump" key as far away from F2 as possible. As far as upgrading your ship before taking on veterans, some of the best pilots actually fly a mid-range ship to increase the challenge.
IM pilots (like myself, flying a civilian Mammoth) can be found roaming around the G1 server most any Sunday, between noon and 2:00pm, Pacific time. If you find yourself reticent to attack a clan and decide, instead, to attack single n00bs ... well, I think we could even convince BA Bane to join us in defending the new guys. We don't always succeed ... but we give it our best shot.

The busiest area is probably the Talison War Zone (Talison Conflict), people tend to do military contracts there.
One can also see some activity sometimes in the Cerulean and Pearl systems.

Sounds good and thanks for the information from all concerned, someone should wikify all those links so that a search of 'Evochron Mercenary Wiki' provides as much information as it does for so many other games. (Dark Souls 1 and 2, Dragon Ball Xenoverse, Monster Hunter).
Not that they aren't helpful and here, and thank ya very much. Now, does anyone know what happens if I bring a custom ship model into multiplayer? I assume it'd look like whatever it replaced, if you replaced something. Is there a way to have a commonly updated server including new ships like that?

You and anyone else with the mod will see the modded ship ... both yours and any of the other ships (including AI) with the same ship designation (check the readme included with the customizing kit for details). And there's no way to add additional ships to the list? I'm thinking no because there wouldn't be an ingame analog to deal with that right?

Correct. You can modify any of the current ships (among many other things) but you can't add objects to the database.
P.S. Except specific objects as listed in the Customizing Kit.

K, thanks for the information. Also, if a bunch of veterans are flying around in midrange ships to increase the overall challenge, thats even more encouragement to completely deck myself out in every possible advantage. When I'm out there role playing a pirate, I should be a dirty greasy bastard who spits in your eye over a crossed blade. Lol.
When I'm out there being honourable, or find a guild to join that I'm interested in at some point, then I'll probably want to fly some kind of unconfigurable military ship, haven't played around with those much yet though. I think starting out as a combat pilot sets you down a military path of some kind? In any event I'm not sure how to aquire military ships if I want them at this point, and I don't think I'd want to use one as a regular miner or workhorse outside of anything but space combat.

I guess you know that when you press the ~ key it shows you what sector each player is in.
Of course a sector is big but at least that's the starting point is to get there.
Then there is the Ping command (that I don't quite understand) except that is supposed to show you (on the Nav Map I think) where that player is within the sector so you can join????
Am I correct??? Someone can elaborate who knows.
And of course tou can ask in chat.
My problem is if i get involved in something I may easily miss chat messages.
One feature I like about Active Worlds is that it had Telegrams and you could add someone to your Contact List and send them a Telegram (message) that would cause a Telegram Sound to play notifying you that you had an incoming telegram.
The Chat feature in EM is one that that for me leaves a bit to be desired - but sice the whole keyboard is used in the game (almost) I don't know what Vice could do to improve it.
Of course for those who have the computing and internet power and use that Teamspeak - I guess that solves a lot of problems - But I'm guess not many use it much now.
Also, I fight when I have to - but I'm not the type to go looking for trouble generally and I'd never just attack anyone. That's just not my style, but I guess I'd take on a tussle now and then - my weak laptop and internet permitting.
My laptop doesn't seem to play nice when I'm in the same sector contract with another real player. The ships tend to become kinda erratic and it's hard for me to keep on a target.

Military ships can be had at any carrier ... the class of ship depends on your rank. And rank depends on how many contracts (of any type) you complete while in a war zone. Or you can start out as a military pilot, with an early model military ship. The only drawback to starting that way is you can't begin the quest until you swap over to a civvy ship. From post: 176287, Topic: tid=11881, author=primedragoon wrote:I think starting out as a combat pilot sets you down a military path of some kind? Yeah, that's why I was holding EM up as a replacement. I played Vendetta for a long time, and I liked it, its a decent game and you can roam a decent sized universe. But those friggin subscription fee's point blank are not worth it given the development teams lacadaisical attitude.
Unlike Vice, I think all their effort is geared towards marketing, and they waited until the game was basically obsolite to add player controlled capital ships. And then they plugged it into the mobile phone game market, and that was pretty much when I washed my hands of it.
Hell, I was already choked when they added to new ships way way back when, with actual decent graphics that looked like they belonged on a computer, instead of ships that looked like they belong on a PS1 arcade game. They added those two ships, and prompty didn't add or update anything else for the two years I was still subbed afterwards. And when questioned, I was told it was a little more complicated than just modeling it and adding it to the game. It also needed to have the right lighting and shit.
Which is a load of crap, I may not be a game designed, but I'm a 3D modeler, I've worked with teams to add pretty things to game before. Ultimately the insult could not pass, especially given the lack of effort on their part.

"Writers ... have (it is to be presumed) the full and magnificent vocabulary of the English language at their disposal. They can say anything they want with whatever intensity of invective they require in a thousand different ways without ever once deviating from full respectability of utterance. They have, therefore, no need to trespass upon the usages of the ignorant and forlorn, and to steal their tattered expressions as substitutes for the language of Shakespeare and Milton."
