Containers and storage limitations

Post by Rook »

Hello, I'm new to the game and enjoying it so far :)

I have a question, I found two containers (okay, my Science officer helped me much :P ), there were many Exodus and 2 Phantom inside, but I could only take a few items because my ship was already almost full of valuable stuff that I didn't want to jettison (both in cargo bays and hard points).

The problem is, the storage capacity seems to be so limited in this game (only 5 different items in cargo bays, the same in hangars and only one hangar per station) that I didn't know how to get all the stuff from the containers without having to go back and forth to store them in multiple stations and pay multiple storage fees.

It just seems like too much work and money to me, so I was wondering what am I supposed to do, and how do you guys deal with these storage limitations, especially for storing missiles and things that may not be easy to find in stations.

I always sell what I carry or jettison some of it if I find something more valuable. Then sell as soon as possible.

I store a few items that might come in handy (equipment) and also stack up in a few stations
with items used in the weaponslab.

Other than that, I don't carry anything I won't need. Cash is not an issue once you get your ranks up.

Those are some of the limitations we have to live with in this game. But you can save the Location in the Map log and jump back and forth to get more.

Okay thanks :), I was looking for something that I may have missed about storage but I guess I'll just have to live with the limitations as PaulB said and store as little as possible.

:o Keep in mind that storing items at a trade station can be expensive ... so only store hard-to-find items. Also, from experience, it's easy to forget that you've stored something ... until you're halfway across the Evoverse and receive a chat message informing you of the fee you've just incurred. And, P.S., don't store your stuff at a player-built station ... if the station is destroyed, so is your stuff.

I was about 5000 sectors away from Sapphire heading for the edge of the universe when it hit me that I was being charged for some stuff I didn't want any more. Too much time invested to go back and sort it! I managed to get 300000 sectors out but it was frustrating to see my bank balance being reduced every ten minutes:P

☺ :)

 Vice did a good thing when he added the option to check and see where you left your stuff (so many trade stations, so little time to check them all before you run out of credits). But, when you're two hours away (real time), you can feel like it's just adding insult to injury.

You're talking about multiplayer, right? Or you mean the AI can destroy a player-built station?

Only in MP. AI can't destroy player build stations.

So if you don't destroy your own stations in SP your good! ;)

I keep a milspec ship in one of the stations in the warzones.

This way, I can swap it out with my starmaster in station, do some military missions in the warzones, and then swap back to the starmaster when I'm done. Since you can't store your old ship in a carrier, it's just convenient that way. Both ships have 8 equipment slots, so you don't lose equipment when you do the swap.
