Stuck in Sol = Mantis?

Post by ZetaReach »

Hello, Newb here and enjoying this game very much so far.

I have successfully arrived in Sol but I thought i could just go back the same way I came :D ... I understand I can just autopilot my way out but I only have a level 5 jump which, I'm assuming, will take waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too long. Do I need Mantis and if so how do I obtain it in Sol?? I've tried just about every station there and reloaded various times with no luck... Any feedback? Thanks

If you check Sol on my map: mercenary.junholt.se you
might find a hint on how to get back.

If you need more hints, just let me know and I'll send a U2U
so I don't spoil anything for others.

:o I'm not sure you can find a Mantis drive in Sol ... so, if I were you, I'd give SeeJay's suggestion a try.

IIRC, you have to watch your heading closely on the egress.

I don't think you can get the Mantis in Sol.

You can get out of Sol the same way, please note I did not say "get back".

Do not waste your time "auto piloting" out of Sol.

Go to all areas of Sol, it is a bit bigger than it looks but not much.

Remember this is also about trading, don't buy a station license every where . . . that is free advice not so much of a spoiler.

A full crew is always helpful and the best ship you can buy.

When you are not trading, you should explore and read what your crew tell you.

. . . . . . and remember to save frequently and always before going somewhere dangerous.

Hi ZetaReach

Welcome to the game and the community :)

The Mantis drive isn't magic - it's just a 10 sector jump drive and uses the same fuel per sector as the 'normal' 5 sector drive - it's just quicker because you don't have the 'drop out of warp, recharge, jump again' sequence quite so often - in fact only half as many.

There are pieces of equipment that you can buy that will let you refuel in the middle of nowhere. Starting with a largish fuel tank and method of refuelling in the middle of nowhere and working out which is the nearest gated system from Sol should help you get back into the core!

SeeJay is a good source of advice :D
