I don't know about whether you can take WolfZone for a clan, but it's well off the Nav Map and so won't show up.

Agree with you. The things is why having a system and nobody know you have this one?
Are you sure that you can't claim it? If you can't it's possibly because it's part of the storyline in a previous game episode on the Evoverse storyline. If you can build clan stations and increase clan % are you sure you don't get paid when you exceed 80%?
If you can't claim Wolf as a clan then I suspect it's because it's outside of 'official' Evochron territory - in the initial story I think WolfZone was somewhere you had to discover how to get to and therefore possibly not part of official claimable space. After all, if you are being paid for claiming part of core space, some official body must be paying you.
Have a look in the official or the (more comprehensive) unofficial Evochron history. The systems outside the Nav Map seem to be areas that are outside Evochron.

In Renegades, Wolf was 'The Place' for some really 'special' equipment...
In Legends, Wolf held a very small portion of one of the two quest lines. And, was another location for some upper level equipment.
In Mercenaries, Andromeda, Sol, Wolf, and Lost Rucker were 'turned off' for clan control reporting purposes. And, Wolf still had some upper level equipment.
In Mercs 2, Andromeda was pretty much stripped of functionality (except for some minor tourist attractions). The astronomical features in Wolf were also pretty much dis-assembled, along with the clan non-reporting function. IIRC, you can still build stations and work the system for faction perks, promotion/skill points, & et cetera. (One of two locations inside the Quadrant, in MP, where indies don't have to be concerned with clan stuffage.) However, I don't recall if it'll pay the gelt for greater than 80% control. I think probably not. It's been a while since I've made the effort to check. Not sure if the astronomical feature in Lost Rucker still works either. Then there's the challenge of Sol, which remains.....a conundrum......wrapped in an enigma...
