CH Fighterstick Help

Post by Kursah »

Howdy folks,

An issue I've been working past in this title is that my 8-way POV HAT does not respond to anything while in EvoMerc.

I bought this stick to replace my aging Logitech Extreme 3D Pro (and to give it to the kids! my aspiring space sim pilots. :) ).

I really don't care to load the CH program if I don't have to, and this stick works perfectly aside from that 8-Way POV. The other sim I play, Elite Dangerous, has no issues...but I'm over it for the moment and wanting to play EvoMerc, just started up a new pilot and am convincing some friends to purchase and play MP with me since this title is affordable and so capable and epic.

So any suggestions on this issue? Windows sees the 8-way POV just fine, but I cannot assign anything to it in EvoMerc's control setup. Am I stuck with either no POV HAT or having to use the CH software to program it to keys?

P.S. I can't wait for the next Evochron with the upgraded graphics engine! :D

For details on how Evochron interprets input signals and provides control options for them, visit this thread: http://www.starwraith.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=11271

The HAT you are referring to is likely the angular HAT. So you'll need to select a dedicated control mode for that type of HAT input in the main Options menu. You can select thruster control, shield augmenting, pilot head control, etc, designed to work with angular signals rather than static on/off button signals. If you want to assign button only controls to the angular HAT, then you'll likely need to use CH's mapping software to do so as Evochron uses dedicated HAT control modes rather than button inputs for that HAT. Devices that have multiple HAT's (ie Saitek X52) will often have one HAT for angular inputs and another for button inputs. In those cases, you can map the second HAT for button inputs as desired.

Kursah, how much you get your fighterstick? I got the Combatstick for 80 bucks and change, the fighterstick seems to go for between 100 and 120 bucks. Good to see you around Cronic! Kursah thats the only joystick you"ll ever need, good choice. Btw, watch the trailer for the upcoming syfy show called the Expanse, you"ll notice that the CH combatstick is used during the first scenes lol.

I purchased my figherstick new/open box off of fleabay for $70 shipped just before Thanksgiving. I couldn't pass up that deal. I'd been researching going to HOTAS and someday if I can ever afford it will get the throttle...for now I'm using KB + Stick and mouse for looking around and UI traversal.

I figured out the POV HAT deal, my bad. I will say lateral thrusters work much better on the 8-way than the lower 4-way. I modified my control scheme.

This stick has been amazing...changed my experience in EvoMerc and Elite Dangerous. I have started to grow bored with Elite, and while I do somewhat prefer it's easier combat mechanics, I prefer EvoMerc's flight model and feel.
