I went into the shipyard and added more cargo and better engine but it consume the crafting points, how do I get more crafting points?

Buy a bigger frame or decrease some of the other
parts. Wings, shields etc.

To best use Gates set your Heading tp either 0 or 180 degrees and set your Pitch to 0. Then, even if you are not near the Gate (but you must be within jump distance of whatever Drive you have - example a Mantis is 10 sectors - you can press the Jump key and you will jump to the Gate and be heading right at it. I always turn on Inertial mode before I jump so I get the extra speed frpm jumping to it above the Ids speed.
I have a mantis drive and if I'm at Sapphire planet I can use the above method to just all the way to the Fauston and Thurban Gates and head on through.

I find that this doesn't work as well as it did prior to the last game change. So now I keep IDS engaged ... with throttle and IDS multi set to max.

I leave the IDS off still, although you do not get the speed boost from previous versions, you do use less fuel as you just coast, with the IDS turned on you use a little fuel too slow down on gate exit.

One more question, when I enter a gate and get to a new zone it says hostile, does that mean that there areas who are hostile towards me and other areas that are not? Even I found a station where I could not trade anything unless I paid 100K

?

Are there other minerals while mining other than plat, diam and metal?

Is there a better mining drill? I have managed to upgrade my engine and shile to level 5 but cannot find anything about better mining tool.

Some systems are hostile and some are not.

At some locations you need to pay a fee to be able to dock. If you buy a license there you won't need to pay anymore.

You can also mine gold, oxygen and probably a few more that I can't remember right now.
Retrieve photon particles from stars and nebulaes are also one use of it.

You can buy and install mining beams that mine only platinum, diamond, metal or gold.

You can find Atlas on your map. It's at: 1000, 0, 1500 and it's part of the Gated systems.

There are no stations on the planets but some have cities where you can dock or have dogfights with your Terran Walker jumping
around on buildings LOL!

I mined the roid first and then I blew them LOL

There are a few different mining beam models available. I'm not sure that that they count as 'better' though. There are beams that only mine platinum or only mine diamonds. As I say in one of my signature quotes . . .

'Hell is being in a pure platinum asteroid field . . . . with a diamond mining beam'

You can get the same effect by priming your cargo bay(s) with just one piece of the stuff you want to mine.

Some planets (including Atlas Minor) have cities. You can mine the planet's surface and then sell your cargo after docking at the city.

Wooot had my first fight and I wooped him, lol he thought I was an indefensible, poor, weak miner, but I just installed super missiles and bye bye butterfly, bye bye!!! he went poof up in smoke Arghhh, argggh mate, but he didnt drop anything, are the ships you dispatch dropping items or not?

There are 4 types of star systems - Good, Fair, Moderate, and Hostile.
If you open the Nav Console it will show you which type of system you aer currently in on the right side-middle, aka Good or Fair or Moderate, or Hostile.
Good = no hostile (Red) ships

Fair = you may see a hostile occasionally - if you start doing combat related contracts here then you will obviously be see more hostile until to eventually "win" and turn the system fomr Fair to Good (this is in SP mode - you can't change a system rating in MP)

Moderate = you will encounter more hostiles and converting this type system to Good will be harder because the contracts will be encounter like 10 enemy ships per waypoint than the 3 or 4 you see in a Fair system)

Hostile = you will encounter many hostiles and converting this type system to Good will be mucho harder.

So far I've only converted Fair systems to Good in SP.
Olympus, Cerulean, Atlas, Orion, Sirius, Talison.
My next goals are Rucker and Lost Rucker, then Virgo and Pices and others. The Moderate contracts with 10 enemy per waypoint are a bit too much for me - I may try hiring some AI Wingmen to help me and give that a try but that's very expensive.

Mining:
If you get a Terrain Walker you can mine Gold and Silver and Biologicals on planets (there may be other things I'm not aware of)
Also in case you don't know - if you are flying through a planets Rings you can turn on your mining beam and mine water from the rings.
If get rather close to a star - I think it's around the 600 gravity point you can mine Hydrogen (from the Star Corona) but make sure you don't get sucked in much farther or Kaboom (if you have a Fuel Converter you get the hydrogen converted to Fuel for your ship - if you don't have the converter you get Hydrogen in your cargo bays.)
In a planets atmosphere you can mine Oxygen (to see of some contracts ask you to go obtain oxygen).

I wouldn't say there is a "better" mining beam - there are at least one other mining beam - I think dedicated to just Platinum - I may have seen one for Gold - I'm not sure. There is not a "better" multipurpose mining beam that does the job faster or better. But have a Science Officer will help you mine somewhat faster than not having a Science Office (Needs to be at 100% in his 2 stats.

Thank you for all the information, I found a space station where they sale Metal mining beam and gold mining beam, interesting also I saw in another diamond mining beam and platinum mining beam, the thing is does that mean that a particular for example platinum beam will mine only platinum in the roids and ignore the other metals, or means it will increase the amount of platinum obtained in a particular roid?

They are specialized in mining a specific mineral. You can also use them as a normal tractor beam to hoist stuff aboard.

Great thanks. I found a nice station where I am making some real nice money just mining, I have upgraded my ship several times and have engines, shields at 5, I have 5 cargo bays now , nice.
