Which version to get of Evochron?

I just found this game and want to give it a try, but I saw that there are several versions of the game

Which one should I go for?

Each game is different.

But you can down load each of them and play for free.

Try them out, then see if you need more help with your choice.

And every game expand the universe of the last game, in this order:

Renegades
Legends
Mercenary

Mercenary is the last one, it was released in 2010 (Version 1.X) and again with a free expansion (Version 2.x) in 2012 and this game was updated continuously, the last time 2 months ago

The other 2 games are "finished".

So if I get mercenary I am getting the full product? I am pumped. Although I killed myself 3 times in a row trying to jump, the stupid asteroid was in front of me and I didnt see it.

The earliest games are more arcade like. Legends is a sandbox. Mercenary is the latest version and much expanded on Legends. The eye candy is better and there are lots of extras like the Weapon Lab and Terrain walkers. However there is a quest in Legends that was left out of Mercenary. However (a second one!) there are player produced quests in Mercenary that aren't in Legends!

Just get mercenary. The older ones are just the same but not as good.

I recently had to make the same decision. I played Legends first, and I'm glad I did. It is a bit simpler, the combat not quite as hard, and it has a really great quest (though I would have been frustrated without the official guide; with the guide it was an excellent experience). When I finished that, I was ready to try Mercenary, which is like a major, major upgrade to the game. I feel that I've gotten the best of both worlds, so to speak. Really wonderful experience!
