Trading/Docking Fee - Bug or Feature ...

Post by mmRunner »

... or do I something wrong?

Sometimes it happens that I pause/exit the game in a station where I have to pay a fee for trading/docking. If I pause/exit the game after paying the fee and doing some trading/contracts and restart/go back to the game I've to pay the fee a second time.

Well, I could avoid this by pausing/exiting the game outside this station. But if I want to do more trading directily after restarting/going back to the game ...

Will this be changed in forthcoming versions? Or do I have to change my "game exiting habit"?

When pressing <F9> or <Esc> the state of paid/no paid fee could be saved so that a fee has not be paid a second time.

When exiting (Esc) you "leave" the station.
If you don't have a license you'll get charged
every time you dock/come back to game.

Not a bug.

 There are at least three ways to avoid paying docking fees.
  • (1) Dock at a station in either a Good or Fair star system.

    (2) Build your own station ... you don't get charged for docking at your own stations.

    (3) Increase your rank to Fleet Admiral (RHIP) or Legend (I forget which).

(1) Would be the best solution, but sometimes not really possible. Especially when hanging around in newly discovered systems with no one free station ...

(2) Yeaaah ... Would be the best, too.

(3) I'm really not ambitious

Seems I've to change my "game exiting habit" ... ;)

What happens if you save first when docked and before you exit? :)

The "exit" being spoken off is leaving the F3 screen which happens when you press "ESC" so save the game.

 Press Alt+F9 to save instead. It's faster and you can stay docked while doing it. ;)

If you build your own station there are other advantages.
(1) you buy at your station and get a discount.
(2) you sell at the other stations and make an even bigger profit because of the discount you got at your station.
(3) as was said, you don't pay docking fees at your own stations and you always have a safe haven to dock at.

I build at least one station in every system I consider important to me. Sometmes I build more than one but usually the reason doesn't have much to do with trade.

There is a downside building a station in MP.
It can be destroyed;)

Sorry, I meant Alt-F9 = quick save. You don't exit the game screen :)
