Is there any shorter way to reach gate L573 rather than going to Orion and autopilot jumping to destination?
(Please don't say there is an uncharted gate in Riftspace to L573,because my aim is to reach Riftspace)

Thanks.

Hello,

You got there the way everyone has too.

The trip is not to bad with a Mantis and setting -5S/+5W for power.

:o Where is L573 located? Most mercenaries travel from Orion to the gate leading to RiftSpace ... but never bother to make note of which planet is closest to the gate.

Okay, I checked the EvoMetrics Online Universe Map (which, btw, has two of the wormholes misplaced ... and I noticed that Austin evidently discovered IM's secret star system). It looks like planet L573 is in the N180 star system ... which is quite a ways from the gate to RiftSpace.

IIRC, the actual designator is 'L573', as cengoy suggests, without regard to the system where it might be located. A launch from Orion is not all that uncommon. Nor from just about anywhere along the Orion-Sirius line, in a generally WSW direction, should L573 be one's eventual goal. I used to launch from Orion's Delta Station. Large fuel pods and a ship to pack around them is my usual haberdashery on these hops. There are other avenues of approach to Rift Space, Sol, and Vonarion. All of which may be discovered thru the exercise of due diligence. Or, thru happenstance or a hot tip! :)

It's N543. There You'll find the gate to RiftSpace.

L573 was pre expansion (old map), N543 is after
expansion was released (new map).

It's been a while since I have been to Riftspace. Maybe it's time to take a trip there again. I wonder if anything has changed since the last time I was there. I think the last time I was there was just after the expansion.

Wow...time flies like an arrow.

From Orion is the path I took also as others have said.
But I will tell you the plan I made and implemented.
It will not speed up the trip but will help with the fuel situation and on subsequent trips.
I took a Build Constructor and before I left Orion is I added a Map Log nav point approximately half way between Orion and the RiftSpace jump gate and at the half way point I built a Trade Station so I could use that as my 1st autopilot jump destination so I could refuel when I got there. That way I don't have to waste valuable Frame Assembly points on a large Fuel Tank (and thus have to use a smaller Wing and/or Shields and/or Engine to do so).
I can take my Starmaster or Mammoth with Wings 13, Engine 5, Shields 10, and Fuel Tank 1000 and still have plenty of fuel when I make the jump to Rift Space.
Now sure I could make the trip with just the 1000 units of fuel all the way to the jump gate and make the jump to Rift Space - but when I made the trip the 1st time I had no idea what I would encounter once I got to Rift Space (well I did have a bit of an idea of what was there but I had NO idea of WHO was there) - so I built the trade station so I wouldn't have to worry about fuel at least.
Also, the area where I built the Trade station ( ~half way) has a Good rating so not hostiles to worry about when docking/refueling.

I built a trade station right next to the gate, so that when I arrive, I can refuel and also re-equip for Riftspace (warning: lots of foes).
