Lost in the middle of nowhere...

Post by wildcard27 »

Just bought the game and loving it!

I decided to follow some coordinates posted my Marvin and have found myself in the middle of nowhere (to be more precise SX:87 SY:0 SZ:2).

Since going through a nebular cloud I haven't seen any stations, planets, jump gates etc at all. Only the odd passing ship too far away to reach!

Am I doing something wrong? Apart from wasting fuel with no obvious station around of course!

Welcome.

You are not doing anything wrong.
Space is BIG and there can be long
distances between planets and stations (systems).

They can also ve way off on the Y-axis so you
don't see them on the map.

For deep space travel, bring a big gastank, a deploy
constructor and/or a build constructor so you
can get fuel. Can also harvest nebulas and stars and
convert it to fuel.

You can check my map for a close system to go to,
but it is a spoiler warning on the map.
Lots of uncharted systems on it.

Good luck.

Hola.

Or you can see the coords of the systems in the nav console, in the "Quadrant" button :)

The most near system to your position is Sapphire, in 0,0,0 S-Coords.

Regards!

And if you ran out of fuel drifting about.
Post a distresscall here and what server you are on,
then someone will come out and help you.

 Ninety sectors isn't really a lot. With a Mantis drive you'll be back in Sapphire in nine jumps! But, f you don't have a Mantis drive (or, at the very least, a class 5 Fulcrum), you really shouldn't wander so far from home ... in much the same way as you wouldn't want to be going from Miami to San Francisco on a Vespa.

Yes, as Marvin said, you don't want to go jumping all around until you have a better idea of what and where things are and understand the Nav Console pretty well.
I just made an autopilot trip of some 13000+ sectors last night and it was a LONG trip and I had a 2000 unit fuel take and I used way over half of it getting there (I took a Deploy constructor along with me).

This is all GREAT stuff!

I only have the most basic mercenary ship setup so was only jumping 1 sector at a time!

I ended up putting in the coords for sapphire to get home and left my computer while it jumped but ran out of fuel just as I got there and never made it to the station! I ended up stuck on a mountain top on a planet (which was strange!). Also, someone was shooting at me! lol

Anyway, restarted from last save and it's like my little trip didn't exist! :)

I can't wait to get into this game more!! And I promise I won't stray too far from home without my backpack in future!

Thanks people! :)

Hello wildcard27, and welcome aboard!:cool:

I daresay that most of us who've flown the Evo-verse for any length of time, have been in similar circumstances....at one time or another. ;) Some of us wound up starting over...again! Some of us got rescued, refueled, pointed in the right direction, patted on head, and.... On your way, spaceman! :) [I've always recommended paying it forward to those who've felt the urge to make some kind of recompense for a rescue. Es verdad!] :) Lots of fun matching intrinsics by hand, rather than using keyboard commands. Although, they do come in handy when transferring fuel units on the fly in the F4 screen. ;)

Hello,

It was me :)

I transferred the fuel too you, thought you would be alright.

I did a couple of missions in Sapphire sector and noticed you.

You were motionless flying backwards at the station super structure. ( just in case it is unclear, ship not moving but showing -1000 speed )

I gave you a nudge too free you as I thought you were stuck.

You then flew down to the planet so I followed.

Then you shot me, so I shot back, but did not kill you, but you were badly damaged 17% :P

Went to the city to swap equipment around too get the Terrain Walker out.

As I was coming back to you with a repair deploy, and going to run around in the TW you left.

Spoiling my fun

Thanks CS-ACI- A little embarrassed about shooting at you! I thought you were shooting at me and I knew I was down and out. Wanted to go out swinging! lol

I appreciate your help, maybe I should have talked to you first!

LOL.

Nice action story!;)

Communication is a pretty good thing before engaging ... unless you are hunting that is!:D

And I agree, this community is great. My first thoughts as well when I joined. Very friendly and helpful indeed.

Hope to see ya out there!

 Any time two ships collide, the resulting "bump" feels and sounds exactly like being shot. You aren't the first (and probably won't be the last) to react as you did.
