Everyone is red to me...

Post by Vampyre »

Howdy,

I'm loving this game. It's the best game no one knows about. :)

I've been pretty active around the first station gathering cash and upgrading my ship. Along the way I accidentally learned I could land on the surface wihout a dock and mine it. I also did a lot of "Blow up the asteroid" missions.

Things were just dandy then I noticed the Navy and Guild didn't like me so much anymore. They either got mad at me for mining the planet or blowing up miners when I blew up asteroids.

Now what do I do?

Thanks for such a great game by the way.

 It might be your avatar name ... they figure red is your favorite color. Other than that, look at the right hand side of the Navigation Console and check the system's reputation level (Good, Fair, Moderate or Hostile). There are two navies and only one of them isn't hostile to your presence (as discussed in the H2GE) ... find a friendlier system. Either that or you, once upon a time, fired on a friendly navy ship ... but, if that's the case, you can rectify the situation by exiting the star system (or at least the sector) for a short period of time.

OK. I'll go hide some where. I try not to shoot anyone. The only time I've shot anything was those asteroid missions.

Thanks for the help.

I have more problems. it may be time to start over again. I found that I was in Fauston when my trouble began but I didn't know it. I don't remember going there.

To get away from the hostile locals, I selected my nav point for the station....the one in Saphire. Now I'm way out in the black with no way back.(Sounds like a song title)

My basic idea is build a ship with good shields and engines and run away a lot. That was the plan...

You can also use the gates between systems.

They are purple on your navmap.
Right click to zoom in on a sector.
Right click again on a icon to set jump point.
Pitch and heading to zero. Jump!
\"Nothing is impossible, it only takes a bit longer!\"
\"We are not retreating, we are advancing in another direction!\"

 Not many space sims actually allow you to go directly from one star system to another system far, far away. Which probably isn't much consolation when you're half way between systems and out of gas. Assuming you don't want to start over again (but you are, indeed, out of fuel), you'll need to post a distress call here, at the forum, and let other pilots know which server you'll be logged into.

But, if by some miracle you do have a sufficient supply of fuel, use the quadrant map to pick off coordinates to the nearest star system and plug them into your destination windows ... then activate inertial, autopilot and cross your fingers.

Good news everyone! I entered the co-ordinates for Fauston. After only 47 jumps with a c4 drive, I made it back there. Then a planet hit me. It just ran Willy nilly out of no where and blammo...!

Ok that last part was a lie. I did a couple of easy missions for the navy. I'm not KOS anymore.

Thanks for all the help.

I'm still a rookie. I still don't know what I'm doing but I'm having fun. I managed to sell 5 c4 drives for over 100k each so that was cool. It was all profit minus some fuel.

I am looking for more of those constructor stations. ;)

I'm happy to report that things are back on track. Slowly but surely progress is being made. The coolest thing(so far) just happened. I initiated a trade for some Intel and for $7050, the pilot have me a weapons cooler worth $458k in Saphire. (Yep, I went back there for a little wbile) I dumped my repair mod and installed the cooler thing.

Oh well, breaks over. Time to get back to work. Those lost items aren't going to find themselves.

I got my first 2 kills and lived to tell about it. Most of the stuff on my ship is in the 4 or five range and I crafted a PC and laser for my ship. I was hit a lot in Fauston but didn't take any damage. One of the kills was there.

I was trying to leave and kept missing the gate. :D

I made a long trip to an uncharted system an AI pilot sold me and when I got there it was Moderate. I looked at some of the contracts in the station and my god, waypoint contracts with 10 enemy ships per waypoint and there was a 7 - yes Seven - waypoint contract with estimated 70 Enemy ships.
I just Esc'ed out without saving and reloaded myself back in Orion where I left from (Orion and Sirius are both Good now).

If all Moderate systems are like that one I don't know that I'll ever try to tackle one. 4 or 5 ships I can handle, but 10?

 Fair gets you 4 ... Moderate gets you around 8 ... Hostile gets you about 12 ... give or take. Taming a hostile system by yourself requires patience and situation awareness.

Taming a hostile system as part of a team id much easier and team contracts are good fun as well! :)

Maybe Vice changed it recently or maybe this is an oddball system because it was listed as Moderate and every waypoint contract I saw in the list was for 10 hostiles x the number of waypoint.
That was another thing that floored me, one contract was for 7 waypoint and estimated 70 enemy ships.
Another was single waypoint and 10 enemy ships. and arind the station there was everything (frame wise) up to Starmasters in green, yellow, and red.
Sorry I don't recall the system name, seems it was D something, but I wrote down the coords the AI pilot gave me, the coords are: sx 131, sy 11, sz -3020. I don't see it in the excel spread sheet I downloaded sometime back. It's a ways below Vega near the vertical zero center line and I guess just below the 2nd horizontal universe line.
Maybe someone will want to check it out and add it to Evometrics. It took forever to get there from Orion and it looks like from Vega would only have been a tad better - but I was already in Orion anyway.
As I said, I decided the system was too much for me so I exited and re-launched back to Orion. I think since I got the coords from an AI that it must be a new, uncharted system and i can't find it in Evometrics.

There was a Star and I think a Planet and a Station.
I hopped into the station and docked since there were Reds about.

I have a question about those nav points the AI pilots give out.

Do you just copy them into the Sx Sy Sz spots hit auto pilot then go watch TV until your ship arrives somewhere?

Since I'm still a noobie, I have the C5 drive, and a 2000 economy fuel tank. Is there something missing. I know there is a C10 drive but I'm still looking for it. (No spoilers plz)

Oh I finally found the IMG mission. I didn't realize New Hope was a different planet. SOME explorer I am.

 I usually use the Travel Buddy when responding to AI-bought coordinates ... it gives me a good idea as to how long it will take and how much fuel I'll use. But, yup ... I set the coordinates in my destination windows, set energy to +5, turn to the heading, engage inertial ... and then click on Autopilot. After arriving, I log the planet's location and then go looking for its star ... and any other planets in the system.

Doing something like that is what caused me to start this thread. I was lost and while I thought I was in Saphire , I was actually in Fauston. When I used my mapped co-ordinates for the Saphire station, off I went, 4 squares at a jump.

The Travel Buddy will tell you how far you are from whatever is plugged into the Destination windows. The in-game Nav marker will tell you the same thing.

Download either Arvoch Alliance or its sequel Arvoch Conflict asap, and play simultaneously with Evochron Mercenary. No one knows about those games also. Red is their passion & destiny, and Vice is the artist. The good news is that you don't have to relearn the GUI. :)
Self-interest rules. Nothing is ever as it seems cuz no 2 people see the same thing the same way. Reality is illusion, and objectivity is void. Self-interest rules absolutely.

:o If Arvoch Conflict isn't a prequel then I've been asleep (or otherwise not paying attention) since AA was released.
