I would like to see more in the way of hidden locations such as active volcanos on planets, ancient ruins, caverns to explore on planets and such along with contracts to explore and find such items that may or may not have artifacts that can be used to produce even more 'exotic' equipment for our ships.

Since we've already seen stations part embedded in planets and in asteroids and in asteroid caves, would it be possible to embed an asteroid cave in a planet with the entrance visible? Presumably the cave/planet can be locked into the same relative location, like a city/planet are. Being greedy (don't ask and you won't get) would it be possible to embed a few asteroid caves and link them - one entrance and a bigger labyrinth to explore?
'Ancient' ruins could make for a great back story in the history of the Evoverse. At the moment we have two alien races plus some unexplained technology in an asteroid cave (OK I know it's a hang over from a previous incarnation of Evochron but one can imagine! It's been used as 'Ancient' technology in a quest story) These can be used to create some background history and stories.
There is rumour about an old race, long gone - The Ancients (AKA The Elders) - and if there wasn't before, there is now!
Again, possibilities for tales of daring do!
I guess with additions that are just eye candy there has to be a balance between 'cool' and resource use but if the eye candy could have a purpose in the game (other than eye candy) it might be justified.

EDIT: Does this belong in the 'Things I'd like to see' thread?

putting the caves on the ground would give the terrain walkers something to shoot at as well i would think.
